SuperSEGA FPGA saga deepens with even more scammy tactics

How people are still giving this “company” money is beyond me

But don’t worry they now have a cardboard box…with a photo of an unfinished console and a broken shell on it 🤣

And a cd rom drive on a case that’s near to a damn YARD long

This is mind numbingly hilarious…and sad

I always advise driving to your local flea market and picking up some OG hardware. If you're going to pony up for retro gaming, it's original hardware for me. Just intangible improvements to the experience. CRT of course.

Don’t discount FPGA
It's a remarkable technology, being able to make a digital 1:1 replica. It's a value prop thing for me. If I'm going to spend that much, I could get a pretty minty original console for what some of these FPGAs cost. Hell maybe even throw in a few games. I'd rather buy rep games to use on a real console. The CRT is non negotiable for me. I'm sure someone probably makes one, but the first few hits on my search didn't turn up any analog outputs on TG16 and N64 boxes. I will buy the hell out of FPGA when they're dropping NES/SNES/GENESIS 3-in-1s with RCA outputs for a reasonable price.

It's $180 for the Taki Udon MiSTer stack which you can use on a CRT. That puts it under the price of some single console and Everdrive combinations. You get NES, SNES, Genesis/CD/32x, PCE/TG16/CD, NeoGeo, Saturn, PSX, N64, Jaguar, CPS 1/1.5/2, and many, many more in a single box.

Grab a ossc and some scart cables. I love how old consoles look through that set up.

It’s great the entry price point for MiSTer FPGA is sub $200 now

Yep, with new FPGA clones, price of entree is now quite inexpensive. Under $200 and plays amazing number of platforms with great accuracy!

Kind of makes me want to get a proper CRT, but they are such a pain to buy and then maintain now days.
Get a freebie off Facebook marketplace. Someone there's an old lady desperately trying to get this thing out of her basement or spare room. Set it up and see if you want to invest in finding a really nice. Any old CRT destroys the nicest LCD for retro games IMO.

Do you have a MiSTer setup already? If not hold off on a CRT unless you find a free one or one really cheap. The CRT shaders look really good, it's not quite a CRT but it's very close.

The only benefit to CRTs is they can use original lightguns, however a spare Wiimote, or any of the modern devices work just fine with the MiSTer.
