Willco, are you under any confidentiality agreements or anything?

I'm just wondering how worked the show was...

sorry man

Actually, it was quite nice. I was a production assistant for a couple of days, because I was crashing at a friend's pad in Hollywood, who was also a production assistant on the show (for all the contestant stuff), and was somehow recruited. But, it was quite nice with decent pay and the producers, for the most part, were very cool.

I worked on the set for reshoots in post. Basically, I was there when Brian McFayden intros and ends the show underneath the Hollywood sign. It was pretty cool to see how they shot it actually. And Brian is actually a super cool guy and the shit he says offcamera is fucking hilarious. Once he found out I had no aspirations to work in the industry whatsoever, he chatted with me for a bit and was easy to deal with.

I think the funniest bit was while we were shooting that day, a bunch of Japanese tourists were coming up the hills to view the Hollywood sign and saw us shooting. Then they saw Brian and wanted autographs. Brian goes over to the Japanese mob and they are all like, "SEACREST-SAN!"

hahaha

man the ending was :/ i dont even think these people realized they placed in the "worst singer in america" contest.

Well all the producers said even though that was part of the gag, these people get real record contracts, so that when the finished product comes out, they'll sound as good as other groomed pop stars. Basically, they want to prove that the worst singer in America can be just as good as a no-talent pop star with enough studio trickery.

Are any or all the contestants for real? If so, could you please convince me with a proof?

I did not work on the show during that part, but my best-friend (who did work on the show for all the contestant crap) did talk to several of the contestants and they are legit.

have you watched the finished product at all? it's just cruel and stupid

i don't care how benevolent they think they're being, they're just not.

I've watched some, but a lot of the times, the show cuts into other aspects of my life that I'd rather focus on. Work, social life, etc. Working in post was enough.

In terms of it being benevolent or not, there's no doubt that the entertainment factor of embarassing people was the reason why this show was greenlit, moreso than proving a point about pop stars and whatnot. It's Hollywood and having lived there for a couple of weeks, it's just as cliche as people say it is.

Wheneve I see the show, I think to myself 'This can't be real'!! Tone deaf ^100

Yeah, my friend said that some of the contestants are nice, but incredibly naive and ignorant of their own, um, lack of talent.
