Sweden bans buying OnlyFans content

The new law criminalises paid online sexual services, including cam shows and sex chats.
Sweden's parliament has passed a law banning the purchase of sexual performances for viewing online, including those on platforms like OnlyFans, marking a major update to the country's sex purchase legislation.

Under the new law, it is illegal to pay someone to perform a sexual act remotely – such as via live video – for the specific purpose of the act being viewed by the buyer. It also criminalises profiting from or promoting others who perform such acts for payment on demand.

"This is a new form of sex purchase, and it's high time we modernise the legislation to include digital platforms," said Social Democrat MP Teresa Carvalho, after the bill was passed by a large majority in parliament.

You've got until July to get your customs in Sweden! After that, straight to jail!

I'm all for it. Same for titty bars. Rime to respect womanhood and not making whores out of them. The fertility rate is already way too low.

I don't really have any strong opinions here, but how is it different than paying for porn? Or is porn illegal in Sweden too?

Now I gotta jerk off to free porn like a plebe. Fuckin great.

Just kidding Im American. My Visa and my dick still getting lit up tonight.

First AI and now this! E-thots can't catch a break. /s
I mean you say /s but that is what we're heading towards, we're going to have a whole generation of teenage boys typing their life details into an AI to generate their own porn videos that will stay around afterwards and tell them how loved they are and how they don't need anyone else.

Why have an actual person say those things to you when you can curate your own perfect AI gf who looks exactly how you want, does the exact kind of porn you need and will tell you anything you want to hear.

The same way paying someone to have sex with you can be illegal, but paying someone to have sex with you for a porn movie can be legal.
They just seem to be considering it to be a paid virtual sex act and thus basically prostitution.

Though I'm against any prohibition, Onlyfans and similar sites are really damaging lot of girls psyque.

I wish this insanity stopped naturally but we are living in a kindergarten society.

Rather than fixing it by law, I'd rather legislators get to the core issues that make sites like Onlyfans exist.

I never knew Sweden were misogynistic

We aren't, just trying to help victims of trafficking that are put in front of a camera and told to perform sexual acts.

Also note, it is still not illegal to do, but, illegal to buy. Just like prostitution, it is not illegal to be a prostitute, and sell sex in Sweden, but it is illegal to buy those services.

I am unsure if it is the way to go, tons of attempts have been made all over the world to stop trafficking, nothing seems to work, but, I am glad some places atleast attempt to curb human trafficking.

From the article you apparently didn't read:
While viewing and paying for pre-recorded content remains legal, the law targets live, commissioned interactions, which lawmakers argue blur legal and ethical lines.

Well, hopefully the ladies can still do OF, just not for domestic consumption. The world would be a sadder place if I couldn't (virtually) interact with ladies as fine as these...

From the article you apparently didn't read:
I'm sorry but that doesn't really explain how it is different from porn. Live streams are bad but paying a girl on onlyfans for her prerecorded video is ok. I really don't see this solving anything, especially when it is only illegal to pay for the stuff and the majority of customers will likely be foreign anyway.

Easy with OF there is a live person on the other end who likely has no qualms about emotionally manipulating their audience into giving them tips/donations or whatever its called in OF multiple times, weak men are susceptible to this.

With porn you can get it for free or pay for it but even if you pay for like a subscription on a porn site its a one and done charge. No attachments with porn.

Just like Texas, they're trying to put the cat back into the bag.

I have conflicting thoughts about this, honestly. I strongly dislike onlyfans thots and would love to see a curbing of their manipulation of men. Though, those same men are probably going to be manipulated out of their money some other way regardless.

It's tough to cheer for legislation removing freedoms, it'd probably be better to raise taxes and improve revenue reporting, but what do I know about how the Swedes do things.

I think Canada is similar.

If you are a hooker, it's okay to sell. If you are John, it's illegal to buy. It's like a drug trafficker ok to sell on a shady street corner. But if anyone buys from him, he's the guy who is at fault.

Figure that one out. If they want to clean it up, just outlaw it from all sides.

Ridiculous law. Just make it legal and then you can have proper health and safety assessments. Keeping it illegal is just making sure that prostitutes are being abused or wasting law enforcement time on targeting people who probably are just lonely and have no one. I am not for prostitution but as only fans shows lots of woman are just doing it for cash and not because of their circumstances so who am I to tell them they can't.

I would never pay for it but if people want to buy and sell it that should be their business. Tired of so called moralists thinking they know what is best for adults.

Why play a video game when you can watch Twitch stream?
Why learn an instrument when you can just listen to the concert?

You know what you can't do with an AI? Have sex.

Banning prostitution is pathetic, and borderline infantile. I never understood this shit from them, because if Swedes think there is no paid sex in their country, they are sorely mistaken. Regulate that crap, get illegal/forced-people out of it and provide health care to those in need instead of a blanket ban on sex clubs and brothels.

Decriminalizing sex work is the best option for the safety of the people in it.

This is one of those idiotic mental gymnastic ways liberals try to make something illegal but not criminalize the person most directly contributing to the problem so they can feel better about themselves and get acces to government services/not get harassed by the police (since they are likely overwhelmingly minorities/disadvantaged persons).

Plenty of men get sex because of their wealth and the women are around because of the material benefits. Nobody bats an eye at that.

Prostitution is just honest about what it really is. It is a transaction where both parties know the score. It is one of the most honest and least shady concepts out there but we make it a crime.

100% truth in this post.

Problem is that you got stuff like Sex trafficking and Sex slavery as well. Legal prostitution makes it harder to fight as you create situations where one has to question what is legal and not.

That doesn't work either, over 3 million people are sex trafficked each year, to nations where it is all OK.

To me it would make things better for sex workers. If it were legal they could have Osha protections and even unionization.

I agree, and I would understand if the puritan religious people were against it because most of the time they: A. Hate women B. Love unborn babies, but only till the moment they are actually born. Happy thoughts crowd.

But unless I'm mistaken Sweden and other Scandinavian countries were never big on religion. So what is the explanation here? They are very feministic, but shouldn't that make them oppose such a move - "I'm a strong and independent woman, I can sell my body for money if I want" stuff.
