Switch 2 version Final Fantasy 7 remake intergrade (off screen recording)

Wow, this looks great. Too bad I think FF7 is dumb, but I'm happy for people who want to play this on S2.

Do You mean FF7R?

Great game. I like Rebirth even more (but I could see actually liking this one more).
Eh no. Rebirth isn't as good as the first one. So many boring things with rebirth starting from the open area to the soldiers parade to the park and the hunted hotel. All of this shit was boring. Remake didn't have that touch fluff in it.

This will be a blast on a handheld.

Looks like a very competent port too.

Rebirth will be the much harder port, as that struggled on the Deck.

No, it padded the game with several unnecessary walking sections just for the sake of it, I prefer actual content

Locked 60 fps seems pretty sweet. There was no 60 fps on ps4.

it's 30fps...

Either unlocked, or 40fps

staff on the Final Fantasy booth have subsequently cleared things up, confirming that the game was actually running at 40fps

I mean... it literally wasn't running at 40fps.
you can go frame by frame in the linked video, and the game only updates every 2 video frames.

here I took 10 consecutive frames from the video, and labeled them like I think it corresponds to the in-game frames.

(btw. how insane is webp? this 1080p animated webp image using 10 frames is less than 2MB)

the surroundings (fingers, system itself) cleary move each frame, meaning it is indeed a 60fps video feed. but as you can see, the in-game frames only really update every 2nd frame. meaning it is locked to 30fps.

here are all frames separately in full quality:

So it's a confirmed 40fps? Nice. No wonder Felix from Nintendo Life thought it was 60fps but knew it was at least higher than 30fps because it was "too smooth" for 30fps.

This is what PS5 games were starting to do and it's honestly the best compromise to keep a higher resolution while still having a performance thats at least "smoother than 30fps".

The video is 60fps right? You can't count 40fps on a 60fps footage

yes you can. a 40fps game would show unevenly paced frames, where 2 unique frames would be followed by 1 duplicate frame for example. this doesn't happen in this video as far as I can see.
the 10 consecutive frames of the video I saved and put into the animated webp image, followed the exact same pattern, which is 1 blurred frame from the slow LCD screen, followed by the same frame without the blur. every 2 frames of video was 1 new frame of the game.

maybe someone could look at a different part of the video to see if this pattern deviates somewhere.

I don't think this is a great way to do that without direct footage... I mean, you'll still get some frames repeating because it's not 2:1 factor

sure, but having exclusively double frames for 10 consecutive frames? very unlikely pattern.

but sure, it's not a 100% certain way to analyse this. however, I am betting on 30fps, or at least that there's a 30fps and a 40fps mode, while said video shows the 30fps mode

I even thought it was 30 initially, but in fact, it looks too fluid, I'll wait for a proper analysis and meanwhile I'll be in the 40 fps camp

Did they add 6 ads in a 10 minute video? Sorry, got premium so I wouldn't know.

that's a typical strategy yes.
because not all ads get served. YouTube has an algorithm that determines when it's "acceptable" to show another ad to the viewer based on how long ago they have seen an ad prior to that.

so adding as many ads as possible in a specifically spaced out way gives a higher chance that an ad will be shown to the viewer.

I use revanced on mobile and adblock on PC, so I wouldn't know either, but this was even more extreme a few years ago where people would spam the entire runtime of the video full of ad placements to optimise the amount of ads shown

I'm looking forward to the Xbox port, myself. 4K/60 fps and achievements. And it's highly likely that the Xbox and S2 dates are simultaneous, so any news on the S2 version likely correlates to me being interested in an update. And speaking of ports of Square games, Harvestella would be great. Such a waste that it's stuck in blurry sub-30fps on poor old Switch, and only Steam as an alternative.

Pretty sure Harvestella runs at 60fps on Switch 2. You could always just play it there..🤷‍♂️

Yeah it definitely does not. It had minor boosts via straight back compat, briefly, but never an official patch. Certainly not a 60fps one. It doesn't matter anyway, it was pulled from the Switch 2 eShop because of save compatibility issues.

Nintendo = LTTP 4 life
Except when it comes to indies. Many, many Indies (and smaller AA) have either come to Switch 1st, as a timed exclusive, or same day as the other versions or if they are late they are (usually) feature complete with updates/dlc etc.

So yea, Switch is (still) currently the only console where you can play Dave the Diver, UFO 50, the Ori games, Cup Head, and (soon to be) Hades 2 all on the same console/platform.
