Won't get one until it is OLED and gets more exclusives. Those who say that the screen is good are high on copium. I don't give a shit for Mario and co. I'm only interested in Zelda, Bayonetta, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade, maybe a little bit of Metroid and Astral Chain. So, yeah, weeb games that are for me.

I can wait. Want to see if there's a hardware revision.

For the Switch 1 it was:
  • Original: March 3, 2017
  • Lite: September 20, 2019
  • OLED: October 10, 2021
So yeah... might be a while.

My local Walmart had one the other day, I went back the next day and it was gone.

I was in Target yesterday and they had 7 on the shelf. I was pretty surprised.

All I want to know is….. where is this RDR2 port that was supposedly coming a "few months" after launch along with hopefully a next gen edition.

Sad Ben Affleck GIF

No. Nintendo is sleeping at the wheel and there's no excuse to leave August and September this dry from first party.
There is Kirby. Sure it's just an upgrade with DLC but its a fun game to play coop with your kids if you have them. Played it first with my 9 year old when he was 6 and now I am playing it with my 6 year old. Basically though it is just Switch 1 upgrades, DK then wait for Metroid. I am not sure why there were not aggressive with releases. Their games sell forever regardless.

They have been in stock online at most retailers since July. Its still unclear if they brought more units to the US early to avoid the bullshit, small business destroying tariffs, or if they are just not selling as well as expected.

My theory for a lack of September games is because they already knew Silksong was September and I'm expecting Hades 2 this month, possibly a shadow drop at the direct. Would explain why they kept September light. Bu

Honestly not really, the device itself is great.

Mario kart world was fun for a week.

& I'm too poor for donkey Kong bonanza & the Kirby 3D world the only games I really want to play on it atm haha

& For some reason I really couldn't get into tears of the kingdom, but loved breath of the wild at the launch of the first switch.

I find myself only really playing my series X still, and the odd rare occasion I might boot mario kart world up if I have a friend round.

& The device is too big/bulky to really take with me portability wise, but I felt this way about the first switch too, maybe if I was a woman I could throw it in my bag or something though.

The device is fine, but I have zero excitement about it. It feels like the Switch Pro. UI is the same, but I guess that's fine. It is very snappy and the store is improved.

Mario Kart was a pretty big let down for me. Played the tracks once and marveled at the graphics, but felt almost no interest in playing them again. Explored the open world for a while and it is a technical marvel to see a Mario style open world game at that graphical level, but I quickly grew bored with that as well. There are core problems with the control layout in my opinion and the reliability of triggering the jump that really made the game unenjoyable and kept me from progressing to the higher skill shortcuts.

Donkey Kong Bananza was great and I truly loved the game.

Overall, system launch is fine. 7/10 or so. Charging for Switch 2 upgrades leaves a bad taste in my mouth though, and I've avoided them all. Drops my score to a 6/10 for the first 3 months. Still glad I got one, but probably the least excitement I've ever experienced for a Nintendo console. Will be well worth it though as more games come out, which is really all I expected.

Still loving it. The Switch 2 improves on the original in every way. And just feels like a natural progression. 75 hours into Mario Kart World and still having fun... I do like open world games so not much of a surprise there.

Now just need a direct to reveal some more goodies..

I haven't played mine that much but the improvements to old games, DKB, and GC on NSO are enough to make it a solid system. We really do need KAR, MP4, and maybe one more exclusive though.

I started to watch this an hour or so ago, because I generally like SwitchUp's coverage, but I turned it off about a third of the way through, because it seemed like they were just rehashing stuff that has been discussed to death.

I think I was hoping for something that offered fresher (or sharper) insights on Nintendo's overall strategy so far.

The devkit angle is potentially interesting, but they didn't seem to be going anywhere with it beyond what's widely known/rumored.

Edit: I feel like a lot of Nintendo fan channels have bungled the transition to the Switch 2. They all seem to be either just kind of pushing empty hype and rumor-mongering (like Nintendo Prime) or they've become joyless wet blankets (like Arlo). The only channel I can think of that still has interesting takes that aren't just bitching or blowing smoke is Nintendo Forecast.

Personally, I'm sick of the Nintendo Direct YouTuber rumour mill. Christ almighty Nintendo
Fans are thirsty!

Have mario kart ( came with the switch ) and got a used donkey kong copy for 43$ US (60$ CAD).

I cant find in me to keep playing donkey kong. I will finish it at one point but.. its not Mario. and I was never big fan of donkey kong in general really outside of the SNES games.

the system it self is fine. i like the size of the screen and how light the system is. but no proper Mario game... wtf man boring.

Not super happy, console has been a bit meh for me. Portable experience is just bad, I am at point at which I think I will simply never use it again in portable. So that's not exactly great.
Plugged to the TV, it's fine. So overall, I feel like I lost a decent portable experience compared to my OLED.

The console does help some Switch 1 games play better, but you have to avoid handheld because everything is stretched from 720 to 1080, which ruins all pixel-art games including the NSO apps lol. The screen is abysmal anyway, and battery life pretty bad.

How they don't have NSO apps outputting at 1080p at launch, but still have you pay for a subscription, is beyond me. You can't turn on the console with NSO controllers anymore as well... It almost sounds like their thought process was "Okay let's do this, and then, wait for customers to tell us what doesn't work anymore. From there we will fix stuff, maybe, if we have time between two dumb patents."

I think it's excellent, it's my primary platform and I've played it nearly every day since release, including:

Donkey Kong Bananza (42 hours)
Mario Kart World (32 hours)
Fantasy Life i (30+ hours of playtime after upgrading to Switch 2 version)
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (21 hours and counting)
Hollow Knight: Silksong (14 hours and counting)
Nintendo Gamecube Classics (13 hours)
Star Wars Outlaws (just started)
Mario Party Jamboree Upgrade (multiplayer nights with friends)

Plus a handful of other games that are Switch 1 versions I would've played anyways, a few games I only played a little bit, and a few demos.

And on the docket for 2025 I still have:

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (Switch 2 version)
Little Nightmares 3
Persona 3 Reload
Mina the Hollower
Inazuma Eleven
Kirby Air Riders

and that's before a major general direct this week. Best console for me, period.
