I barely get reception if the building is more than two stories. They just drop my calls for no reason. And if someone leaves a message it's just as likely I'll receive it as I'll get 30 seconds of mumbling or silence.

But the real killer is their bills. Misc charges, other charges, going from $3 to $11. WTF is "other charges" supposed to be anyway.

And the intimidation when you're a little late. Blowing my shit up 4 times a day. Yeah I know I'm late. I had other things to deal with this month. You'll get your money when I'm good and goddamn ready to pay you and not a moment sooner.

They've been reliable for me for the past 6 years. Cheapest service for what I want.

Mine says "Other Charges" and then lists what they're for.

T-Mobile has been good to me except for one or two times and I've had them for five years. Can't complain too much. And I <3 the G1.

I usually blame my shitty T Mobile signal on the fact I have a 1st gen iPhone and they have some known antenna issues, and it hasnt exactly been treated perfectly...but lately I go from 4 bars to nothing in my own house, in the heart of Louisville

Works both ways, but yeah, cell providers are only good and helping before you sign on their dotted line.

"Other Monthly Charges
Fee we collect and retain to help cover our costs related to funding and complying with government mandates, programs and obligations"

...how do you expect to be considered a fully functioning adult if this is the way you approach finances? :lol

Are you certain your phone isn't malfunctioning?

I'm curious about these other charges.

I have a Sidekick, and I pay $55 a month.

$20 = Unlimited Sidekick services (texting, email, web browsing, IM services, etc.)
$30 = 300 minutes per month, unlimited weekends
$5 = taxes

Where are you getting screwed?

i don't pay my bills till i'm good and ready, either.

fight the power!

also I don't think this has anything to do with T-mobile, but I do think you have a creepy stalker on your hands.

I was in a car accident.

Juggling getting my wreck fixed, rent, and other bills, the shitty service that's been dropping my calls and creeping it's price for years lost out.

And they got their contract with me aborted for all their trouble.

Okay, well, that sucks. But what exactly do you expect them to do? You have a contract.

I understand it's entirely on me. But if explain the situation and let them I'll see them first thing payday, do not call me 5, fucking 6 times a day.

+1 to this topic.

I just realized recently how I get little to no reception with T-Mobile

I don't know how their collections department is. I DO know they send their stuff off to third party stuff, but you're saying you're missing calls so I'd think your account is delinquent and not suspended or cancelled.

I worked in collections for ATnT and for a finance company. Its not fun for anyone, except for the creepy sciociopaths that get off on collecting.

I work for T-Mobile now though, in tech support, and I don't know how customer service or collections works there, but I can say on my side, I'm loving it, and I make people's day.

Sorry your reception sucks. Where are you getting dropped calls? Everywhere? How often does it happen? I mean you're saying you're getting dropped calls from inside your building. Concrete isn't radio wave's best friend yanno. You might want to consider getting a hotspot@home service installed if you're being a recluse and staying at home with your phone.

Have you tried calling tech support? All I see from your post is you're complaining about collection calls, but hey, thats the biz, you're delinquent, they're going to call you about it. Wait till they cut off your service and ship off the debt to a third party collector, you'll get NO sympathy whatsover from those guys.

Just curious, is it really 5 or 6 fucking times a day? Or is it more like once or twice a week? Hyperbole is great to show how emphatic you are but doesn't translate well when trying to describe a situation. It also seems you made promises to pay, which usually stops collection calls if you meet the promise. Of course the more broken promises the less promises one will take.

5 or 6 just seems excessive, I'm guessing you're using a consumer account (non government, non-business, non-corporate) and those accounts are usually routed through an automatic outbound system that is kicked out of rotation once contact is reached. Are these 6 actual you talk to a human being calls? Or are these 5 missed calls and the 6th is where you pick up?

Need more info please.

Also, if you really are being harassed by random people every time, escalate the call to a supervisor.

:lol Yes.

I honestly have never met anyone in person that uses T-Mobile or Sprint. I have no idea how those companies manage to afford all the commercials I see for them.

You don't? I see them all the time, than again it is a location thing.

I know a couple of people who do because they get good reception here and I think were cheaper for them.

This too... Everything depends on locations, some places verizon and other companies people hail are awful with reception and call quality.

Why doesn't anyone at my cell phone company seem half as competent as Chojin?

Cause I was hired a few months ago ;)

Give me a few more and I'll be grumpy.

I went from Eager Beaver at ATnT Wireless to a foaming at the mouth asshole to finally sad and apathetic by the time Cingular bought us out.

Its just... Our QA is so different than any call center I worked at before. They encourage, no, demand we give our customers a reach around while providing a happy ending. Which is very different than any call center I've been at.

But, like I said before, collections is collections is collections. Its a different beast all together. I'm sensing Odoul is angry about the service as to justify his collection harassment. It's a common symptom.

Just be glad I'm not taking his house like I used to when I worked for Greentree.

End of month there to make my bonus I'd not only be calling him, his cell phone, his landline, his place of work, but his neighbors, family, distant aquaintences, the bar he hangs out at (no joke) the local stores around him and a lot of other places. I'd also be poking around at his credit history so I could chat with other collection agents on tips and tricks that he might be in debt with.

Christmas was Jolly. I would tell mothers to postpone christmas to january so they could have a nice house to put all those presents she was going to get for them. Christmas Eve was a great day to work cause not only I'd surely get overtime by then (end of month last two weeks yer clocking in 70+ hours a week) but I'd be getting holiday pay at 1.5times plus receiving holiday pay and the dollar differential cause I'd already be working past 6pm since 5am that morning. And the icing on the cake is since its christmas eve or thanksgiving day all the relatives are in one place so the week before when you bugged the crap out of them, they turn that frustration on the person in debt. Jingle all the way~

Collections sucks. I feel for him. I just wanted to make sure he wasn't exaggerating, but I totally feel his pain. I've been on both sides, and neither is happy.

T-Mobile, while privately owned by faceless megacorp Deutche-Telecom, is relatively young in the telecom world. Officially T-Mobile since 2002 they were an itty bitty company before DT bought them out called, crap I forgot, wikipedia teach me: Voicestream or Powertel. Even though DT bought them out in 01 its not like T-Mobile USA has the vast coffers DT affords. Being that their market is very limited in what they can attempt to penetrate. Now take Verizon or ATnT (which will always be Cingular to me, fucking SBC) and Sprint, all three of those companies come from one Baby Bell or another. Those companies have roots that extend over 100 years. Deeeeep DEEEEEP (I'll refrain from alluding to nazi coffers) pockets. They can advertise globally from a huge cost. T-Mobile has a little less to work with (don't forget I still acknowledge Tmo has a huge faceless corporation no matter how Magenta colored our font or cheer leading rah rah our commercials are) than the other three. So you may see a lot of commercials in an area where you don't see a lot of T-Mobile users because right now Tmo isn't trying to get new customers who never had a cell phone, but trying to lure existing customers from other Telecoms. Obviously its hard to do. People are very loyal to brands. Look at the iPhone >_>. Cingular pulled an upset with the iPhone exclusivity and Tmo while not on the same scale is trying very hard with the myTouch (even the name, blegh) But we got the jump on Android right now even though its not exclusive for very long, there's going to be a lot of Android phones coming in the future. But its enough within the companies growth expectations.

I'm really sorry that Odoul is having bad customer service in the shape of collection calls. Right now (and yeah I'm new) the focus of the company is to be totally Customer Service than rather brag about a network. Cause thats how you keep customers. Apparently this shift happened about two years ago or so (our QA is crazy, no seriously, its crazy customer oriented towards building a relationship, as if you'd want me to hold you after the orgasm... and I wish I was joking) because Tmo wanted to get a handjob from J.D. Powers, and they had it, but lost it last year to ATnT I think. Tmo wants it back, and badly.

I love the customer and all, but its really getting scary.

You don't know anyone using T-mobile? You mustn't live near a metropolis.

I have t-mo and am very happy with them. I get great coverage and 3g coverage that beats sprint in most cases.

And really if you want them to stop calling either pay your bills on time or don't have things you can't afford. It's that simple.

What? The Sidekick phone is right behind the iPhone in terms of trendy "hip" phones. Until the iPhone, it was THE trendy phone to have.

3G isn't in my city at all and I'm looking at the coverage map and the biggest blotch of 3G is in the middle of Mississippi? O_o?

Any way I went to T-mobile because of this thread since it reminded me that I want to upgrade my phone

Whats the My Touch with google? Whens it coming out? Looks sexy (compared to the g1 at least)

^_^

Edit- Speak of the devil.

"Early August" for most people, August 3rd ship date if you're a T-Mobile customer already and preorder. This Wednesday we'll be learning more about the launch.

T-Mobile had been awesome for me until a month ago. Since last month I've been getting a plethora of dropped calls and this whole "All our circuits are busy" bullshit keeps happening. It's really started to piss me off. If a phone conversation goes for over 3 minutes I am almost guaranteed that my call will get dropped. This is also happening to 2 of my friends that are also T-Mobile subscribers. For what its worth I am in Los Angeles...

Yeah, not so much. It was once a popular phone with the younger market for sure, but it never had much buzz beyond that, and now lags behind the iPhone, Pre, Android, and others in terms of "hip" and "trendy".

probably half of the people i know use sprint. most of the rest use verizon. a few use at&t. not many use t-mobile.

my mom recently switched from sprint to t-mobile.
my brother recently switched from t-mobile to at&t.
a friend of mine recently switched from sprint to metropcs.

i stick with sprint because i got dat SERO plan baybeh!

i'm gonna ride that $30 plus tax for 500 minutes, free data/text/weekends/7-7 until they go bust

a buddy of mine got straight DISSED by a chick when he pulled out his sidekick.

she was like "how old are you?"

Ive always had great experiences with T-mobile's customer service... the biggest reason i stay with them

I use Sprint. Your world is now rocked to its core.

If you are living so close to the edge that you can't afford your bill until the next payday, then you shouldn't have signed a contract. They make prepaid phones/plans for people in your situation.

Could be you just need a better phone.

A couple of years ago my phone was dropping calls quite frequently on the train. I'd had it for a few years, and I wanted a new one anyway, so I got a new phone, and all my reception problems went away.

I use T-Mobile prepaid. No bullshit fees or taxes, just a phone I can use whenever I want. I wish I could do that with my land line, but I have a business number that ends with 00 at my house which is totally badass.

if you aren't holding up your end of the contract why should they?

I've been on T-mobile for years and I gotta wonder...

is their reception getting worse or is my phone going bad?

I get bad reception often whenever I go far and sometimes I get that one-way phone call where I can hear them but they can't hear me or vice versa.
