Take-Two CEO Says They’re Excited For Stadia And Will Support It

The general feeling around Google Stadia since its reveal has been a mix of things, as it is to any type of new technological leap (or attempt at a leap, at the very least). It’s been a mix of skepticism, caution, and apparently in the case of publisher Take-Two Interactive, what seems to be a little bit of excitement.

We reported earlier about the earnings call for the company, where they detailed the massive successes Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2have been, and the company’s view on loot box practices. In addition, CEO Strauss Zelnick also spoke about Google’s streaming service, and he seems pretty into the whole idea behind Stadia. He confirmed that the company would support it, and that he found the idea of being able to stream and log in from any device an exciting prospect.

He said: “You know the promise of being able to sign on to a service with virtually no barriers, without a box in between, and being able to play our games on any device whatsoever around the world, and to do it with low latency, well that’s very compelling if that can be delivered, and the folks at Google minimally have said it will be delivered and will be delivered in relatively short order.”

“Conceptually we want to be where the consumer is, and we’ll support new entrants and we are a believer in streaming services,” he added. “Again, you know we need to have business models that make sense for us. So far, we’re pretty optimistic.”

While no games were specified during the call to be coming to Stadia, it definitely seems like it’s something the company is looking into.

A nice little kickback from Google in a PAY TO THE ORDER OF document will get CEOs to sing praises.

Over or under on whether Phil Harrison will be at Google another 24 months?

I'll take the under.

Feb 2008 - Resigned from Sony
Mar 2008 - Director at Infogames Entertainment SA
Apr 2010 - Resigned from Atari BOD
May 2010 - Joined Gaikai Advisory Board (bought by Sony in 2012)
March 2012 - Joined Microsoft
Apr 2015 - Left Microsoft
Jan 2018 - Joined Google

Nintendo's double secret agent. He needs to join Apple next.

Let me get this right, they will be launching in the second half of the year, yet no business plan or model has been announced. (Hm)

Amazing thing is the media’s take is that everyone is afraid of Stadia -an unproven platform powered by a single studio. Even if the tech worked flawlessly why would anyone be fearful of that?

Glowing press coverage with virtually no critical questions feels like it’s been bought and paid for.

Even if cloud gaming worked as well as natively processing (which it doesn't), what is the business model? Its the whole reason Nvidia is still in beta 6 years later, they actually entered beta before PS Now. :messenger_tears_of_joy: There are literally countless companies that are offering similar products but nobody really cares much.

Its so very bizarre.
