That's not saying much, older tales games have some of the weirdest combat system you can find in anything, like the devs never played a 3d game before.

Best Tales combat with insane depth by far.
Literally replaying this on PS3 emulator on the Steam Deck at the moment so this announcement was bizarre to see lol. Was expecting Xillia games tbh.
The combat still holds up even after Arise, which I would put number 2 behind this from a combat perspective across the series.

Not in terms of gameplay.
Best combat in Tales to this day.
The party is at least conceptually appealing in a way that a lot of other entries aren't too.

Cool to have it on modern system, but not really a huge priority for me as the overall game was just okay. The combat carried one of the much weaker Tales stories, and the cast was an extremely mixed bag (particularly the female characters, Cheria is definitely the worst female Tales character for me, but Pascal is probably my favorite female Tales character, only Sheena from Symphonia, Tear from Abyss, and Velvet from Berseria would compete with her for the #1 spot).

Only thing I remember about this game is it had some of the worst low-effort music in the series, and there was some part where you talk about escaping the belly of a giant monster by going through its butthole.

The combat in this one was good (although I definitely prefer the more "traditional" ones like Vesperia), but everything else was... meh at best.
Characters are pretty bad, except Sophie who is bae.
Soundtrack is forgettable.
Overworld is basically non-existent.
Story is the bottom of the barrel for the series.
The grind for titles and artes is atrocious.
I'll probably still get it... because Sophie.

Where did you see that? Even the original on the Wii was 60fps during battles iirc (the PS3 version definitely was).

I guess I'm happy for this but Xillia 1&2 would've been a better anniversary present.
So the game that ran at 60fps on Wii is going to run at 30fps 3 gens later, that's some remastering. Also 1440p instead of 2160p on the Series X, oof...

sounds like they aren't doing native PS5/Xbox Series versions then? dunno why the PS5 and Series X at least couldn't handle a performance mode at 120fps?
it's 2160p on the X, but 1440p on the S
also I mean look at Tales of Symphonia which was 60fps on GC and STILL hasn't reached that in any of the ports since
