So anybody jumping back into today patch/wipe. New Streets expansion trailer looks sweet, looks like they added dynamic loot also finally. As a player who has 1000 hours I'm excited as hell!

Do I need to play Tarkov 1 to 13 first or is it unconnected like Final Fantasy? Is this an expansion pack or just a "director's cut" ala Raimi's Spider-Man 2.5? Is it best to play the "theatrical cut" of the game first?

No it just more maps and content aka weapons, items, etc. This patch is one of the larger content release in a while, and best time to play is on wipe when everybody starts with new characters and new low tier weapons like taped up mosins. They usually do wipes every 6 months and usually a huge patch/expansion once a years but lately the trend is 6 months for content.

I can't get into this game. It's one thing to have your equipment wiped every few months. But having all of your mission progress deleted routinely seems like a Sisyphusian nightmare.

I agree, the actual shooting and combat is quite good, but it’s surrounded by this system that is hell bent on making sure you’re not having fun. Taking away all your weapons, a really annoying economy that requires different currencies for different people and then the base building stuff is shit.

Feels so odd buying a game on PC that isn't connected to any launcher. Are there any Steam release plans?

My adamant tarkov playing friends assure me it’s actually perfect and rerunning the exact same quests over and over is part of the fun.

I’m not even sure what their plans are as they used to say they planned to have the maps stitched together with a persistent raid mode or something but that was like 6 years ago now.
