For movie fans this is probably the best channel ever. Where else can you see Raging Bull completely unedited, no commercials, in the original aspect ratio-- or one of Hitchcock's more obscure ones. Their presentation is fantastic, with different themed months, and introductions to each movie. There's just so many things to like about it, who else loves this channel?

TCM is fantastic. You can tell that Ted Turner is a movie nut as his channel doesn't dumb down to the mainstream crowd like AMC has done in recent years. Robert Osborne is a great host to say the least. He's very professional and informative, yet never dull. TCM has a great vareity on their schedule and it's always cool when they show an old classic that isn't on DVD yet.
Didn't AMC have to change content because so many rights to old movies were being bought by Turner and other conglomerates?
I wish I could get TCM... in our area it's some sort of premium/sattelite only deal and I haven't seen a second of the station yet (much like G4 among many others). I miss not-sucking AMC, too. Though, at least thanks to seeing it early yesterday I caught a glimpse of Call Northside 777 and now I have to hunt that movie down.
In the interest of topic continuation, are there any b&w movie fans who know of good movies with city scenery and the like? I'm more interested in good backdrops as opposed to good movie content, and stuff no later than '49.

before 49 will be hard, as most movies were not shot on location (if i get what you mean) until later. but there are still a handful of really good ones.most noir movies use the city not by showing the city, but by showing shadows, but of course lots of expections.

2. Sweet Smell Of Sucess (57) - considered one of the best use of NYC as a actor.
edit: northside 777 comes out on dvd next tuesday. along with Laura (!!!!!!) and kazan's Panic In The Street.

TCM is the greatest channel on earth. Especially when they do their Oscar month in February, you can literally sit in front of the tv for 24 hours a day and never see any crap. It's greatest asset is that there are no commercials unlike AMC. God I love that channel.
I love TCM. My only concern with the channel is their broadening of "classic" to include movies from the '80s.
I guess this can't be avoided, since people are getting older and wanting their classics to be the classics.
I really would like them to stick to maybe 1960 and earlier. Because to me, the great thing about a channel like this is the ability to be surprised by movies I have no awareness of.
Perhaps they'll spin off a new channel that just shows B&W movies.
