Team Ninja developing for PS3 and/or Revolution?

No inside information. It's just funny to hear the same thing from the XBox fanboys. No developer will EVER leave M$, but they may be able to steal others..

Give me a break. If Team Ninja wants to develop for the best hardware as they are always saying, it won't be the 360. It's just that simple. But maybe, just maybe, they are just a hypocritical as M$. Personally, I expect M$ to lock them up. They are good at locking up worthless developers ...

In the next-gen Team Ninja games, the breasts will look REAL!! :lol

That's your reasoning for showing up in this thread? To slam TN as worthless and to continue your own worthless dollar sign pimpage? Right. Good going, dude.

As Jarrod has shown TN has never held the "Best Console will get our wares" before the Xbox came on the scene. It was just a PR excuse plain and simple.

The main reason I feel that Itagaki will stick with the Xbox360 mainly next gen is Microsoft has him where it really counts...his ego. The man has been treated like royalty when it comes to the development of the Xbox 360...I can bet you that neither Sony nor Nintendo ever asked him what features that he'd like to see in their next consoles. the fact that MS has shown an interest in his opinion on their new console will go a long way in ensuring that he'll likely stick with their console. That and the fact that his games actually sell well to the Xbox fanbase (aside from DoAU which was a bad case of really piss poor release timing)

And if he does decide to bring games to a console other than 360 I suspect that they will be more for Nintendo's system over Sony's. He seems to respect Nintendo (and is a fan of their software) while he's never shown any love for the Playstation brand (or it's fanboys). Sony shafting Tecmo on PS3 devspecs/kits surely won't win their support either. Tecmo didn't seem all that happy with Sony over that.

I've always used M$ to stand for Microsoft. It's much easier to type, and funny enough everyone knows who it stands for. TN is an okay developer, but I only liked Ninja Gaiden. DOA is just pretty, with bouncing boobs.

I lost a LOT of respect for TN with that crap DOA Volleyball or whatever. Pathetic to make a game with women prancing around in bikinis. Get a real women instead..

I think Itagaki did the DOA volleyball "game" for noteriety more than anything.

DOA:U totally bombed, Ninja Gaiden sales were disappointing, and he's a marked man in his home country. I don't think he's too happy with his deal with the devil at the moment.

DOA3 did very well, iirc. NG did pretty well, I thought. I may be wrong.

SonyCowboy, any sales data to confirm/deny my thoughts? TIA

Sales were pretty disappointing for Ninja Gaiden considering its standing in regard to other action games out there. It should have sold a million within a few months. I've never played DOA. Heard the game is shallow.

DOA:U has been their only bomb on Xbox pretty much. Even DOAX did decent, considering the type of game it was.

As a matter of fact, I think Team Ninja has been the only good Tecmo performer this generation. Most of their other titles have bombed terribly: FF/FF2/Rygar/etc., AFAIK.

Let's put it this way: Team Ninja favoring the most powerful hardware was nothing but Itagaki's PR excuse for Microsoft funded Xbox support. In fact, it's never been an issue except when concerning Xbox. Just look at Team Ninja favoring Saturn over PS1, DC/Naomi over PS2/246 or now DS over PSP. Expect Xbox 360 to get priority over PS3/Rev now too.
*shrug* Looking at past history is fair, but perhaps Team Ninja got more hardware-oriented in recent years.

I'm not discounting that money hats/smaller pool of competition/etc. were a part of Team Ninja's extensive Xbox support, but I don't think that means we can immediately dismiss what Itagaki said as complete BS. Unless you've spoken to him directly and asked him about it, it's feasible that his love of the hardware did factor in...and will do so next gen (right alongside those other factors that have been mentioned :D).

DOA4 Hardcore? DOA3 Hardcore was rumored to be headed to GameCube at one point. Also, Ninja Gaiden started out on PS2 iirc. Itagaki's oversseing Rygar 2, which is PS2 bound this winter I think.

I expect PS3 might recieve after the fact ports of Team Ninja's big Xenon stuff (DOA4, NG2, etc). Revolution might get something novel based on it's unique interfaces, probably with lots 'a boobies. Itagaki's DS enthusiasm is a good sign.

Ninja Gaiden did not start out on PS2, it started on Naomi. There was never the intention to keep it on Naomi, but it was the most powerful hardware at the time when Itagaki started Ninja Gaiden. He said so in an interview.

Moneyhats, esp. MS ones were rampant this generation. But for a fledging console, the software had to be exclusive so as to motivate consumer purchases, & ensure a foothold within the market. With the rising costs of next-gen R&D however, & MS pushing for profitability by '07, I expect to see this less & less as devs. want to recoup losses as well as keeping profitability high. Itakagi has never professed any love for the PS2, but you simply cannot ignore the market leader. Even though Rygar bombed, Tecmo is already at work on a sequel. Itakagi does admire Nintendo, I suspect he will show some limited support for the Rev.

Team Ninja totally ignored the PS2 and still were very sucsesful. As for TN supporting the revolution...... not unless there is a "money hat".

Ninja Gaiden is awesome, if Itagaki never makes another game in his life he will still be a legend for Ninja Gaiden on XBox.

I recall him doing just that when the team was working on the PS2 version of DOA. That was prior to MS buying his soul of course.

from gamefront, traslated with babelfish:

"Team Ninja probably speaks about coming projects/DOA code Cronus for Xbox 2
03.05.05 - Tomonubo Itagaki of team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden, DEAD or Alive Ultimate) spoke after a report of XboxIGN about future developments. So one has still some plays for the current Xbox in work, from which one will probably deliver still at least two - details are to follow still in this month. Continued to say Itagaki in a discussion with the Famitsu Xbox, which one would have to fulfill on the Xbox still two promises. First is the ' Perfect edition ' the Ninja Gaiden Hurrican series, in which all on-line contents are contained, so that also ' off-line players ' can use them. The second promise concerns DEAD or Alive code Cronus, which was announced on the Tokyo Game show 2003. Itagaki marks that one of these two promises no more cannot be fulfilled on the current Xbox generation. Since by Ninja Gaiden a ' Perfect version ' is listed with American dealers already, probably DEAD seems to come or Alive code Cronus for the Xbox 2. About 90 per cent of the work time at team Ninja is invested according to Itagaki momentarily in Xbox 2 developments. To 99 per cent it is busily with DEAD or Alive 4, which is published on the Xbox 2"

It's possible, I just meant the game was originally intended to be a PS2 release.

TN is on DS with its less than stellar graphics without apparent money hats. Why is Revolution such a reach? Itagaki, iirc, said quite emphatically that he would like to do a version of Pikmin. If anyone is up to the task of doing hologram Pikmin, it would be TN.

If Itagaki really was all about the hardware he'd be splooging over the PSP and wouldn't have given the DS a backwards glance.
