I'm not sure Obama would want the job. He has that rock star vibe that makes me think he would want to do something else for the rest of his life.

If he was a supreme court justice he would literally have the job of making sure a bunch of his policies and policies built off his terms in office are continued.
I think he would take that job.
He'd get to drive a stake through crazy republicans for as long as he likes if he was a justice. Why not?
Ted Cruz is a strong argument for Texas secession.

It's happened before. Former one term President William Howard Taft was later appointed Chief Justice to the Supreme Court by President Warren G (Regulate!) Harding.
Ha! Craig Maizin is a cool guy, I met him in Austin about five years ago. Had no idea he was roommates with Ted Cruz, but I guess there'd be no reason for him to bring it up then, heh.

As a lawyer, the idea of a Judge so thoroughly defined by politics that her rulings could be reasonably predicted based on ideology sounds like a terrible Judge unworthy of the local courts, let alone the highest court of the land.

The idea that the goal is to elect people who align strongly with your party as opposed to intelligent people who will make measured and reasoned judgment is exactly what's damaging this country politically. We aren't football team supporters here cheering our teams on, but some people (on both sides) seem to treat it like we are.

cruz is one of the three favorites to win the nomination, and hillary aint no lock to win, especially if terrorism and the economy are the main issues in 2016
in recent times, yes(note that john paul stevens and david souter were liberals that waited to retire until a democrat, obama, was in office despite being appointed by ford and bush 41)
