Tekken 5: What am I doing wrong?

Okay, I've gotten my Jin up to 1st dan in Arcade mode. But now I'm not getting any more ranking matches. I've played 30 straight matches and still no ranking match. Compared to a ranking match every 3 matches before I got to 1st dan. WTF?

I've lost matches but I'm fighting all 5th dans and above. I lose maybe one out of every four matches.

Same thing happened to me, but it didn't bother me. sorry I don't have an answer though :X

Yeah I know, same here.

In Virtua Fighter 4 EVO, you'd have to win about 4 or 5 matches straight in a row and you get a rank up.

In Tekken 5, --it's usually a streak of 10 or so wins. So, I'd say --as a guess that is-- you have to win 10 in a row to rank up.

...but does it really matter?

You know, you still obtain gold by winning the fights regardless of rank, and you still buy items for it.

So who cares if the thing on the top left says 1st Dan as opposed to Master. Same game.

After you reach 1st Dan you need to fight people of the same rank or very close to the same rank. If you fight someone of identical rank it only takes about 3 matches to rank up. If they're one rank higher or one rank lower it'll take a few more. Anything past that and it just takes forever.

That tip really helped, thanks.
