You tend to read horror stories because people tend not to say much when everything works out. When things go wrong? All hell breaks loose...
If you're just "expecting" it to go wrong, then what's the point? Best case you just get all your money back for the TV. Is it worth it? (Answer: maybe?).
I have the C7 65", and it's a beautiful TV - cost me $2k, delivered, and then $90 for the warranty. That price is repeatable pretty easily, so you need to decide whether it's worth it to you for the bigger 77" and the much bigger price tag. I wouldn't blame you if you think it is. To put it into perspective, - you could have 3-4 2017 OLEDs (which - by the way - is a much better TV than the 2016, despite the amateur rtings reviews to the contrary - there's a plethora of benefits). So 3-4 2017 65" OLEDs or 1x 77" OLED. Again, you may decide it's still worth it. I wouldn't blame you if you did.
However, for that kind of money I'd take a projector and screen if your room supports it. The OLED is only big enough (for me) as a bedroom TV.
