Damn. Never really followed this series very closely. Looks like this bombed on Steam maxing out at 5000-something concurrent users (aka 8 Concords) and has 41.58% positive user ratings.

Too bad. I had hoped that the game would be something. I haven't touched Forza Horizon 5 in ages and the jump from 4 to 5 wasn't that big. But I'm not that desperate to play a racing game to get this one at full price. Even before the reviews, the always on stuff put me off. Everything else is just the final nail in the coffin.

First TDU on the X360...man, so many fond memories, a game which was ahead of its time...

2nd TDU was "more of the same®" but took them MONTHS to fix all the shite. The casino bit amongst other online elements were literally broken for the first few months.

This one...it's exactly what I expected, it's just plain shit, ugly, soulless (them character models, lol) and after a gazillion of NFSs, dare I say, "generic" in its (more urban) looks department, plus, it apparently runs not so well on consoles judging by some videos I've seen online.

This was destined to fail from the beginning

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I didn't even remember a new Test Drive game was coming.

I check new games almost daily and saw it pop up. Why make it an "MMO" and saddle your game with another account system? Nobody likes it, as seen in the HD2 PSN debacle and the online component is just another vector for a poor user experience.

I saw this coming ever since I saw the track record of the developers when this game was announced and this is what I was expecting, nothing more, nothing less.

The driving feels pretty decent, races can be fun but there are so so so many little issues that add up to basically ruining it, needed another 6 months to cook honestly. Traffic STILL disappears right in front of your face for example.

I was looking forward to this game for years. Unfortunately, it is a steaming pile of shit. I played the beta and gave a ton of feedback but they shipped it in a horrible state.

Yeah, maybe they fix some things, but why do they need to make it a TDU game, when they rip everything out what makes it TDU (houses, missions, focus on cruising around in your cool car and don’t care much about racing) in the first place? Only TDU-ish thing in this is setting direction lights and opening/closing your window.

There's a night and day difference between the beta and final release.

Housing and casino are coming. Plenty of reason to just drive around without actually doing races. Road discovery, collectibles, etc. For the first ~10 hours of the game I pretty much only used one car. That's pretty TDU to me.

I think most players will want to switch cars rather than being stuck with the same one for hours.

I understand how many people are upset when games like Forza throw dozens of free cars at them, but going in the opposite direction with the grind also isn't very healthy.

The state of arcade racers makes me sad. There's pretty much only Forza Horizon and The Crew as quality entries in the genre while other former players like NFS and TDU repeatedly shit the bed. I miss the heyday of arcade racers when we had games like Project Gotham, Ridge Racer, Burnout, decent entries from NFS, Midnight Club LA, hell, even Blur.

Sad but obvious.

The way they kept hiding the game and pushing everything back said enough.

Very clear at the end they just said fuck it and decided to cut their losses releasing whatever they had.

Shame, this really could have been great.

Didnt even know this came out until this thread popped up just now, and I had been interested in the game at one point. Shame it was apparently such a turd.

I was hoping for something to scratch the itch while I am waiting for the next Forza Horizon, but this game isn’t this :/

Gave me some time to play my ultimate arcade racing combo, forza horizon 5 (Xbox sx and PC) and PGR4 on my xb360

It's definitely not worth buying even from a sale, I've followed patch reports and there were no major changes to visuals and/or performance.

Plus with the devs insisting this stays an always online MMO racer with no offline option (and no AI races by choice) it's going to be dead soon.
