Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) - Netflix - Feb 18

always had a weak spot for leatherface.

not expecting much. but not everything has to be gold these days anyways. just content that scratches my weird itches.

They’re going to have either Sally only run into Leatherface in the final climatic moment, or have some conveniences that she never gets a good shot at him.

Leatherface isn’t like Michael Myers where even a prepared Laurie could still potentially lose to him. He’s just a dude with no supernatural levels of durability and also lacks any skills in the stealth department usually once he gets mad. So it’s why it’s usually best to always have him terrorizing some unsuspecting and unarmed people because if guns start being aimed at him he‘d be fucked.

Also, dude has to be in his 70’s by now at least. Again, Michael has the supernatural angle to explain why’s he kicking ass even now in his 60’s (always hated that dumb cop in H20 who said Michael wasn’t a threat due to his age, how is someone in their 40’s not a threat?!) but Leatherface doesn’t. I mean, he must be never skipping leg day and also lifting some weights constantly to be able to still lift a guy in the air at his age.

I dunno, I feel the franchise works better to just stay set in the 70’s or 80’s if they want to keep making new ones. Even the 2003 remake was still set in the 70’s IIRC.

Granted, it has to be at least be better than the 2006 and 2013 films (and the 4th film in the 90’s, though that one is enjoyable on a batshit crazy level, especially with the random-as-hell Illuminati element. Yes, for those who never saw it, that legit happens). Never saw the 2017 prequel.

Seen the leaks. It wants to be Halloween 2018 but it's not earned, Zoomers get savaged by Leatherface and it has a heavy anti gun rhetoric.

Will it be good? No. But it'll still be fun trash.

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
I'll watch it just because the Evil Dead remake and Don't Breathe were both good.

Yep, that’s a typical Netflix casting.

Idealistic young friends uh...

Edit watched, yep netflix casting indeed.
Typical Hollywood casting. People really need to understand that if something is on Netflix it doesn't really mean that they were also the ones who produced it. These streaming services very often join very late during or after production and just buy the streaming rights.
Legendary produced this and it was supposed to be released in theatres, but then they sold it to Netflix.

The 2013 Daddario one was excellent tho. I actually don't remember the movie I just remember that one Daddario scene lol.

I too enjoyed that one, very educational

Eh, we'll see. It needs to heavily lampoon current culture for it to be interesting to me. It's not enough to just be a gore filled skinfest with brutal killings every 5 minutes to get me anymore. I want to see those zoomers PAY for their moral sins like we did in the 80's slashers for the audacity to want to smoke a joint, drink a little, and have sex.

R Lee Ermey was brilliant in those ones from 15 years ago or whenever it was. What even is time at this point? He was great though.

Ironically I think Rob's peculiar style would be a good fit for TCM, whereas on Halloween it really felt like an imposition.

Honestly I can get behind that idea. Disliked Zombie’s first Halloween and loathed his second one, but I could see him doing TCM right.

House of a Thousand Corpses basically was a TCM story. Zombie needs to do Hills Have Eyes or the like. Crazy hillbilly bandits is his jam.

Or seriously, just do a heavy metal film about a band summoning demons. Come on Rob, it's RIGHT THERE!

The mask is fucking horrible...why it is bloody on the outside?? The whole point of the mask is having a clean face to cover his own...

odds are Rob Zombie would have done a decent job at remaking this, don't really see a huge point in doing so as we already have House of 1000 Corpses.

he is inconsistent but at least he is has his own unique voice and style. hit shit is truly hit or miss but I like some of his stuff.

I enjoyed Lords of Salem, house of 1000 corpses and devils rejects. they weren't good really, but I still found them fun. hell I even found 31 fun at times.

I didn't even know this existed, and neither do I care now.

I remember being in primary school and a friend rented the original movie (I still think about how crazy it is, that his mum rented it for us all to watch as very young kids at his birthday sleepover, we would have been 8 or 9 at the time)

& Was he bragging about how it was banned. Haha

Edit: after watching the trailer, I can already tell the best part of the trailer is when he kills the bus full of era/twitter cancel mob with his chainsaw.

I've seen much worse movies than this, it was okay. The kills were fun. They really didn't need to bring back Sally, though. And that they turn Leatherface into Jason or Michael, it's dumb. Oh well, bring on the next one.

Watched half of it last night. And it’s …okay so far. Can’t say I’m rooting for the 20 year olds to survive though. First thing that came to mind was there was no way that town would be mostly abandoned…Too many YouTube and Twitch kids running around trying to make their next scary videos about Ghost towns with horrible history. (Although, if Logan Paul shoes up wearing his Toy Story Beanie and gets chainsawed in half then I’ll give this movie my highest recommendation!!)

Kills were good, pretty well done and decent effects. Film had more gore than I expected.

Everything else was really bad.

Overall you can do worse watching horror films on Netflix but I can’t say I recommend it unless you’re a total gore hound and have absolutely nothing else to watch.

All the characters were unlikable and the story teetered between uninteresting to nonsensical.

I thought it was an incredibly well directed movie but very badly written. It was worth watching because the kills were pretty awesome and brutal. I sort of laughed because this winter I could not get my snow thrower started because it sat in my garage for one year. But this dude could keep a chainsaw hidden in a wall for like 40 years and fire it right up like it was nothing.

Started watching it last night, I fell asleep, next morning my friend said "you did yourself a favor by falling asleep". He was a bit more vivid in his comments. I don't think I'll finish it, the part I did watch was meh at best.

I read and watched so many bad reviews on this movie so I went in thinking it would be terrible.

I enjoyed it from start to finish. I really disliked these dummies from the beginning and the music along with the kills was fantastic. Love the ending too.

If you like the series and know it's not the smartest horror out there, you'll be fine. The guy playing leatherface did a great job too.

Seeing gen Z characters in an R-rated film really made me feel my age haha.
The 'sourthern whites are racist' trope was so lame too smh.
The film didn't really hold much tension throughtout, but some of the deaths were pretty visceral. More of a one & done affair for me.

The canceling / social media scene is so tonally jarring, I couldnt stop laughing during it.

Just watched this and gave it a 10/100 on Criticker.

Probably one of the most cynical and derivative films I've seen in quite a while. Utter waste of time. Only silver lining being that I watched it during work lol.
