TGS: New DOA4 Media + Info

About 60 New Screens... Some of these are from Famitsu, but a vast majority of these are new.

New gameplay videos... Not much (since they're cam), but it's better than nothing since there was no new trailer for DOA4 at TGS.

Quick Summary of Gameplay Changes
- Counter window has been shortened... was 22 frames now looks more like 10 frames
- Ground game (okizeme) is much better. You can hit opponents while grounded with any low attack, or any attack that looks like it would hit grounded. You can also use certain attacks to catch tech rollers off the ground (ala Tekken).
- Lots of attacks grant significant frame advantage on block
- 23 characters
- 16 player lobbies online
- Game speed has been slightly increased

Overall the game looks significantly deeper than any other DOA before it. I'm a huge Tekken fan, and I've never thought DOA could compete with it or VF in terms of depth, but from the few hours I've had with DOA4, it looks like it's definitely getting much closer to the big boys.

I'll have more detailed impressions soon...

EDIT: First set of hands-on... I'll have an in-depth gameplay article coming as well, but it's after midnight in Japan, so that will have to wait.

EDIT 2: Uploaded two vids (see above)... now I'm sleeping, it's 1am in Tokyo.

Wow. That sounds awesome! Sounds like it's definitely changing for the better.

Can't see the pictures on linked site :(

Thank's for the impressions anyway. Love DoA!
Man does that site blow...

The game looks just like the last set of released pics. You'll either love it or hate it depending on if you're a fan or not. :lol

And for the lazy haters: No, it doesn't have self shadowing. Yes, the models still look the same.

Bitching in 5..4..3..2..

Me neither. Can someone put a few of the better pics on imageshack or something please? Do any of the shots show Helena, Gen Fu, or anyone else we haven't already seen?

I like this news. I'm officially interested in DOA4 now.

I wasn't keeping track of who was/wasn't shown in the previous pics but Gen Fu is in these. :)

*edit*
Just cycled through the them. Gen Fu is the only "new" character in this set of pics.

Old build I guess. Nice to know gameplay will actually get deeper this time.
Someone needs to ask Itagaki what's with no selfshadowing, and why not put motionblur option for gameplay too and not just replays.

Vids are uploading now... but they're cam with minimal quality...
Sweet. Thanks bro.

In fact, series creator Tomonobu Itagaki stated that he had been up for the last 50 hours without sleep in an attempt to get the game finished for launch.
Damn....

Looks and sounds great, but really wish Leon and Bayman weren't being ignored (in some modes) in this game. Leon especially has been among my preferred characters to play as, among all characters.

The build Tecmo had available for us to play was about 60% complete, but the game is still on track for the Xbox 360 release in all territories (yes, that means US Xbox 360 owners will be playing DOA4 on 11/22). In fact, series creator Tomonobu Itagaki stated that he had been up for the last 50 hours without sleep in an attempt to get the game finished for launch.

Poor guy :(

(notice the bulge. DOA transgender edition)

And

(notice the shape of his central hanging belt)

P.S. This is Boutrosinit posting from the house of Jetjevons, hence his user name.

First vid... second is coming shortly. Sorry about the deliver system, but it's going away in a few months. -_-
Looks great! The crowd in the first fight especially.

Noticed a few new animations in the characters as well (floor crumple and wake up animation).

Second vid is up... same link... that's it for me tonigt. I'll have more in-depth impressions after I get some sleep.

lol

The changes sound great but I'm not sure if they will be enough to make me buy it. I'll wait and see till I can playtest the thing but right now I'm anticipating Virtua Fighter 5 a lot more.

Still the same problem from me :/ Can´t see anything. I´ve tried to view the page woth Opera, Firefox and Explorer without any succes.

Great texts though. Want this game so baddly :)

Lisa. It's a shame her and Christie's costumes are so shit, as they're the only characters I fanta^H^H^H^like in the DOA series.
Quoted For the Fucking Truth >_<

and what's with Lisa's *ahem* typical DOA proportions?

can someone do me a favor and zip up these screenshots so I can download them

anytime i go to the gamedaily site I get red x's... then when i click on them i get taken to a capcom fighting jam page... also full of red x's

WOW! Looks like the series is taking a turn for the better, and Team NInja has been working like madmen. I can't wait to play this game. I haven't tried to sink my teeth into a fighter for some time, but if the above changes are true, and the game plays as well as it looks (and with online play), I'll be hopelessly addicted to this title.

Looks great if the screenshots actually represent what the game will look like when you are playing it (unlike current gen team ninja games where the actual games look much much more aliased than the screenshots).
