TGS Prediction League

6. PS3 controller redesign showed.
This is not my prediction, it's my HOPE of the show. I know, nobody has held the thing yet... but God, it's so unattractive and uncomfortable looking.

But if I had to predict, I feel the exact opposite will happen. I feel if anything with TGS we'll get the first confirmation that it IS the final design.

Hmm, I feel the exact opposite - I have really high hopes for the controller. Alps had a PS1 controller (non-dual shock) a few years back that was shaped alot like it and it just felt really good. Your grip just assumed a natural position and I think you had a lot of freedom to adjust it based on your hand size. It may have looked weird, but it was just a logical way to contour a controller.

You can google up the rave reviews it got too:

http://www.game-assault.com/reviews/alpsreview.shtml
The basic idea behind the Alps Interactive gamepad was to create a controller so comfortable and fine-tuned, you'd forget about it and fully concentrate on the game. To say that they succeeded would be an understatement. The odd design and size of the controller may turn you off at first, but, after using it, you'll change your mind.
Design 9.5 It looks as though they threw every preconceived design of a normal controller out the window and started from scratch. What they ended up with is a little piece of brilliance.
Quality 9.5 This is a solid controller that's manufactured very well.
Comfort 10 There has never been a controller that even comes close to the comfort of the Alps Interactive.
Diversity/
Playability 7.5 Some games may benefit from analog control, or special functions, but anything the standard Sony gamepad can do, the Alps Interactive can do better.
Overall 9.5 With the wave of dual analog controllers that will hit soon, this may not be your best choice for a new controller. However, as far as digital controllers go, the Alps Interactive gamepad is one of the best on the market.

I predict that my game of the show is a new 2D action game from SCE on PSP. Most fun I've had on the PSP! Great design and mechanics!

Interesting. Well now I AM curious to see how this feels. The Alps didn't have analog sticks, though. That might be the barrier, no?

Anyway, it's interesting. Thanks for the heads up, I vaguely remember reading about the Alps but didn't realize it was so similar to the new PS3 controller. Nonetheless, I'll remain skeptical until some serious hands on with the thing.

I predict multiple pitchers of gintonic and hopefully lots of nampa.

I had forgotten these. Looking forward for Lost Odyssey, the idea and story seemed interesting although I'm not a big fan of japanese rpgs.

wrong thread i posted this in earlier!!

Miyamoto will turn up in a Happy Mario 20th T-shirt
Iwata will stay have the gayest hair cut in the world
Matt cassassassassasseenymeenyminymoo will post something the day before TGS, that makes the NintenCamp goÂ…Â…..WTF!!
Kojimi will announce a new game for Rev.
Square Enix will announce 2-3 games on Rev/DS

1. PS3 will steal the show
2. The hardcore will jizz themselves to the tune of MGS4
3. Nothing Nintendo announces can possibly satisfy everyone.
4. Some awesome DS games will come out of leftfield, ala Ouendan

As for what I want to see most?

Q Entertainments next DS game, if there is one, would be awesome.

Ridge Racer 360 isn´t Ridge Racer 6 but a version of Ridge Racers of PSP with better graphics that is exclusive for Xbox360 until the launch of PS3.

Tekken6 won´t appear, but the last arcade versión of Tekken5 will have a revamped version in the launch of PS3.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to have the same graphical level of Resident Evil 5 video.

Nintendo will show the specs of the Revolution and a list of demos for the press like the demos that they show in the E3 2004 for the DS.

PS3 will have some type of technical demo you can actually manipulate. Of course, there won´t be playable demos or final hardware, but lot of videos.

Xbox 360 will have a beter show of what is expected, MS will show some impressive demos from their japanese developer.

Whatever it makes Revolution revolutionary, won´t be show at TGS. The control won´t be showed yet. It´s possible Nintendo explain the system to get old games, the multiplayer possibilities of Revolution or some videos showing what can we expect graphically from it.

Lot of PSP and DS games.

The best stuff will be for present generation (especially PS2).

My only regret is that because of Onimusha Dawn of Dreams we won't see a trailer for Onimusha 4 on PS3 before next E3 :(
I want Onimusha 4 with the graphics of Oni2 intro :D :D :OO

MS will only show Japanense developer stuff. No PGR3 to show respect to Namco.

RR6 will look great

PS3 will have lots of videos, no playable. It will own the show

MGS4 will be a short teaser, focusing more on the tease than the technology. It might be running on PS3 as mentioned, but it won't be showing anything like what the final game will look like.

Iwata will talk about DS online, play Nintendogs with Miyamoto wirelessly.

Revolution controller shown but not demonstrated. Cue lots of GAF exposition about what you can do with widget #3

I don't think the Rev controller will be shown, like it was said above - Iwata's speech will be focused more so on the DS Wi-Fi and the DS. Maybe we'll get a couple new tidbits.

I fully expect some more Mario spinoff games to be revealed, maybe playable versions of New SMB and M&L2. New Zelda tidbits will leak, as well. Lots of DS and PSP action - hopefully we'll see DMC PSP at the show.

PS3 will have maybe one playable game, and the playable game will be an underwhelming game from a second tier Japanese developer or something. But count on lots of prerendered footage. I highly doubt there will be an elaborate MGS4 trailer for the reasons drohne mentioned (though if anybody was to get one of the first PS3 dev kits and full access to the PS3 hardware, it would be Team Kojima), it'll probably be some "target render" BS.

X360 will have a couple of new announcements, I would love to see some more Blue Dragon/Lost Odyssey media, personally. But still, MS will prove that they don't "get" the Japanese market any more than they did at the start of the first gen. I expect PS2 and the DS to completely dominate the show.

My predictions:

- Announcement of Valkyrie Profile 2 for PlayStation 2.
- Square-Enix reveals a completely new Xbox 360 RPG.
- A short Shin Megami Tensei 4 trailer for PlayStation 3. It looks awesome as hell and wins the award for best trailer of the show.
- Namco reveal their Xbox 360 RPG: Tales of Harmonia.
- First footage of Xenosaga Episode 3. It has the old style of Episode 1 and looks pretty average.
- Wild Arms 2 remake for PS2 will be annnounced.

Mark my words!

Do you mean some type of technical demo the public can play? Cos if not, they've had the other since E3 ;)

Yeah, the current gen lineup is looking pretty sweet :)

My predictions based on extrapolations from E3 and others...

Whatever 'surprises' MS has for TGS will be leaked at least 24 hours beforehand :lol
MGS4 trailer / teaser will be quite short and won't have the same impact as the MGS2 trailer.
On the whole PS2 will be the main attraction.
None of the MS surprises will be of the 'ton' variety...
...but they will show that 2D isn't dead :D

Too late! However, I think Billy from Game Informer is looking for one. Also, if you have the golf game or the Doshin the Giant expansion pack, I need them. I'm only those two games away from a complete set.

-Nothing will be shown for FFIII DS
-Square Enix will show the FF7 PS3 Tech Demo again, rekindling 'OMGOMGFF7REMAKE' discussions on the internet, much to my disdain.
-A couple of polymorphic World of Mana dealies will be unveiled.
-Front Mission 5
-Nippon Ichi Software will probably reveal a new strat RPG or some shit. (didn't that guy who supposedly "leaked" Disgaea 2 say that NIS would announce something in September? Hm, maybe it was November.)
-FF7 Golden Saucer fighting game for cell phones.
-Another Tales game or twenty.
-The Revolution controller will finally be unveiled. The online community will be divided between over-opinionated people who thinks it's going to be the second coming of Jesus, and over-opinionated people who think it'll be a stupid virtual boy-esque gimmick. Neither side will give, and the arguement will go on for years, eventually culminating in Armageddon between the Nintendoites and the non-believers, which will end in Miyamoto killing the Anti Christ with a piece of a broken DS touchscreen.

-[parasite eve] 3 (PS3)
I'm thinking that you said this just on baseless hope? ^^ That would be hot shit if it turned out to be true as long as it doesn't suck this time.

More prerendered FFVII footage which will spawn thousands of threads about how Square-Enix REALLY REALLY should make a remake.

This will also lead to thousands of new Aeris or Tifa erotic fanfics.

Sony:
MGS 4 Trailer will obviously amaze everyone and will be the "big" Sony part of the show.
Sony will show off the hardware/controller more or less exactly like E3 for the Japanese press and will probably give a handful of new details
Very few playable PS3 software, nothing noteworthy
PS2 will have 53,000 games playable pretty much.
PSP will have some decent new games but more or less over-shadowed by DS software.

Nintendo:
Iwata's speech will be good but not live up the insane hype that is going around. He'll give some more details on what makes it Revolutionary and will probably show off the controller. No games till E3 though.
He'll talk a bit about the amazing success of DS so far in Japan and talk about DS wifi.
DS will have some pretty good third party software on the floor but obviously nothing from Nintendo.

Microsoft:
They will try their best and have some exclusive RPG's but the Japanese audience/press will be "Xbox 360 who?" after MGS 4 is shown.
No PDZ till X05.

Crates.jpg

I want to see this box :lol

Well, my predictions are:
LIKELY: Nintendo shows the Revolution
UNLIKELY: Zoonami shows Funkydilla + a trailer of an unannounced game

Hey jarrod

Where did you get the subtitles for Xeno and BK DS?
Are they real or did you make them up?

Pied Piper is the name of a Xenosaga cellphone trillogy that's already out in Japan, while the BK subtitle is just something that Namco has trademarked.
