Thank you Konami thread

They had a rough start coming back (Survive and that shitty Contra) but I think they are starting to get on the right track again. It's getting harder to hate on them these days. We should at least be thankful they aren't trapped in the pachinko mines anymore.

More Suikoden collections please.

I'm in. I'd take Silent Hill F, Suikoden remasters, Dominus collection, or Snake Eater remake over Death Stranding 1, 2, and the next future 10 games in the series brought to me thru a time machine, OR anything Sony put out this whole gen except Returnal, Demon's Souls remake, and Astrobot. Konami is legit again. I just need one thing to seal the deal:

Now that Konami has risen from the ashes, this thread is dedicated to giving thanks to what was a fallen giant who has just risen from out of the deep valley once again.

There 80's and early 90's arcade output was absolutely on point. Glad to see in recent years they have put out some solid collections of those games. There's so much more left on the shelf.

I'll start thanking them when they release a ganbare Goemon collection or a parodius collection.

They get minus thanks for releasing cack like mgs.

What makes some of these collections worth it are the new games like Salamander 3 or that remake of Haunted Castle. They didn't have to but they did anyways. Makes me wish Capcom did the same with their collections.

Not out of it yet… fix your SH HD collection and keep improving the MGS one (and sort out the PS5 Pro issues with SH2 too)…

love to see the redemption arc and the fact it started with a game made by my homies. I'm skipping delta but SHf is shaping up to be amazing and I hope they don't fuck this up

they haven't won me back, but i'm glad to see a more concerted effort than prior.

People forget that capcom was in the shitter post RE6 and that weird MP shooter, etc. Konami can totally bring it back if they just make the right decisions.

I'll thank them when the remake some 2D Castlevania games with modern graphics. If they're smart, they'll do it, it's all the rage right now. Games like Streets of Rage, Ninja Turtles, Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden, etc... Plus the metroidvania genre is surging right now thanks to Silksong, they should strike the iron while it's hot. I'll take an original game too if they prefer that but it's probably easier and cheaper to remake an existing title. I'll take any of them but I did really enjoy the Soma Cruz games. I feel like they're a bit underrated.

What am I thanking Konami for?

Charging £70 for MGS 3 remaster? Even MS didn't rip people off for Oblivion and it's the same thing, even down to the shit performance.

I'm thrilled for Konami. Solid Suikoden remasters with desire to remaster other titles and do more with the series expressed. They did what no one thought would be possible in doing a pretty good job remaking MGS3 without Kojima. Silent Hill 2 Remake delivered. The (in-house?) Silent Hill game is supposed to be good.

Holy shit are you me ?
And globally ok with what you said about Kojima, except I still have hope for Physint.

Castlevania 64 / Legacy of Darkness is still the best Castlevania 3D for me, as I think it retains the core gameplay of the 2D series and make a great translation with an emphasis on tight platforming and serviceable combat. For sure it could have better camera and combat but this was early 3D.
Ambiance was top notch, level design really good and ennemies were great.
All it needs is a good remaster with camera controls and lock on to be a true classic.

For me, it translated the core gameplay loop and the ambiance of Castlevania 2D in 3D better than Metroid did with the Prime series with that tank Samus.

It's been a great few years for Konami although things weren't looking too good for the Japanese studio in the wake of some troubling decisions in its past. Its infamous split with Hideo Kojima and the decision to take on mobile games instead of a renewed focus on excellent AAA titles might have seen the studio fade into unfortunate obscurity.

However, its excellent remakes of great games from Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill, coupled with exciting new titles like Silent Hill f have allowed the studio to regain its strong standing in the gaming industry, bringing its greatest hits back to a new generation of gamers while its new games further cement its place in the global gaming landscape.

It's a redemption story that demonstrates smart choices and an ability to learn from the mistakes of the past and rise above them, and Konami is now back and better than before.
