If you're a fan of non-mainstream rap, then you should be used to this. I haven't given a damn about the Grammy's for awhile (barring the time Esperanza Spalding won best new artist).

People wear whatever attire they want. This used to be a black tie event. You have Miley Cyrus introducing an artist as "the biggest badddest bitch ever." The stage is literally set up like the MTV music awards. Every performance the camera people turn to Taylor Swift and her entourage of girlfriends standing up from their seats dancing like a bunch of idiots.

I like Beyonce, I really do, but she isn't an artist that revolutionized the industry with creativity and massive talent. She is an unbelievably beautiful person who is a great dancer and has catchy songs here & there.

As someone mentioned she doesn't write her own music, which there is nothing wrong with as many artists in that genre don't. However, shouldn't the most prestigious award go to someone who does?

When you look at who wins album of the year at the Grammy's; Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, U2 in the 80's, Eric Clapton, Tony Bennett, Bob Dylan, etc...

I'm not comparing Beck to this artists, but the guy is defiantly really talented. He is an unbelievable musician, and this album was pretty innovative.

I don't follow pop music very closely, so big freaking caveat to this post, but...

Beck is a great musician and artist. His stuff doesn't always appeal to me, but I recognize he is extremely talented. Having said all that, Morning Change is very similar to a previous album that Beck did called Sea Change, only Sea Change was better. As in, way better. So it's pretty weird to see an album of the year award go to an inferior version of something the dude has already released.

Is it better or worse than Beyonce? No idea, I don't listen to her. Judging solely on Beck's release, I have no idea how it's in the running for album of the year unless it was a very poor year for pop music artists. If Morning Change is their choice for the best release of the year, it must have been an abysmal year for pop music.

Outside of mainstream stuff, I'm doubtful the Grammy's freatured most of my top ten. Was Ryan Adams mentioned? His self-titled album was stellar. Spoon?
