_____________________________________________________________

I'm rooting for Arrested Development (After watching the first two seasons last weekend) and Lost. I've got some studying to do tonight, but I'll also be rooting for those two shows in most categories, although in they both have multiple nominations in the writing categories and all of the AD episodes have blended together for me.

Any thoughts? Predictions? Concerns? Despite the relatively stale nature of the nominations, I am hoping that the actual winners represent the new blood...but I'm expecting nothing but Raymond in the comedy categories. Sigh.

hugh laurie better get his award, without him there is no show. i'd also say AD to get everything they possibly can, except give zach braff the best actor award...and give Locke the Emmy for supporting actor, and Lost the award for best directing.

BSG not being nominated for best drama is a fucking crime because all the networks know it will slaughter any other drama nominated!

Edit: An no nomination for Olmos? WTF?

If something on the WB or UPN have never been nominated for one of the two major awards (Drama and Comedy Series) BSG doesn't have much of a chance. It's picking up steam, for sure, but it will need a lot of critical acclaim to overcome its location.

There's nothing on the WB or UPN good enough to be nominated. BSG already has the critical acclaim.

Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls both have enough critical acclaim to be nominated. One show each.

The problem is that "critical" acclaim (See: Battlestar Galactica, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars) doesn't mean shit when it is the members of the community who vote...and they don't know what BSG even is.

Nominee who'll never see an Oscar but might get an Emmy: Quentin Tarantino (Director, Drama Series)

Quentin Tarantino won an Oscar for Pulp Fiction's screenplay. Although, technically it's shared.

Also: 24 better take the drama category.

It's going to suck when Desperate Housewives steals the comedy award from Arrested Development.

Considering the fact that Will & Grace gets tons of nods, it's not like I have any remote hopes of any truly deserving shows walking away rewarded.

This needs to happen though.

You know, I argued with you about SVU in the old Emmy Nominations thread, but I wouldn't be so against Hargitay winning the Emmy...although Close's performance has the most acclaim.

Garner doesn't belong there...weak season for her and Alias.

...wow. This song is a bad omen for the rest of the show. Like...wow. So bad.

And let the Raymond parade begin...plus, I wonder if they know they have sound issues.

Thank the stars that the shitfest that is Everybody Loves Raymond has stopped plaguing mankind.

Piven or Tambor needed this award.

I think this last one was undisputed. The opening ceremony of the Athens Olympics are the most amazing thing I've seen in my life.

Wow, the camera really loves Jon Stewart.

Also, I love that little shot of Conan as Letterman is coming out. He had a look of "I will crush you in a few years. Just wait old man."

Raymond is winning everything except Actress, folks...might even beat Housewives for Best Comedy.

Two more years until every traditional sitcom nominated this year is gone! Woo!

NOBODY WANTS TO SEE THE EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND CAST TOGETHER EVER AGAIN.

Edit:
It's official: David Letterman > Jay Leno

Whoa...this had been questioned?

I really need to see this episode of House. I have heard great things, but still question it being better than Lost's Pilot or the fantastic Walkabout.

Go Abrams! Nice to see him pick up an Emmy.

Believe it or not, there are people in America that think Jay Leno's show far surpasses Letterman's, which ratings point out.

Props to The Life and Death of Peter Sellers.

How about the truth about it all. Letterman and Leno both suck in the last few years. Conan is the only savior in late night on network TV.

It appears they went with the favourites (Housewives, Lost) in the directing categories, but thought outside of that box for the writing. AD deserved that one, by far...such a great episode.

Yes! Arrested Development gets recognized!

Jon Stewart's edited piece was hilarious as well. :lol

Conan actually admires Letterman a lot and has frequently praised him on his show. He's mentioned that he watched him a lot during college.

When Conan was first on-air his show was doing terrible in the ratings, but Letterman did an interview for Conan, his ratings went up and he started gaining credibility.

AD won for best comedy, I'm assuming?
No, best writing for the episode "The Righteous Brothers."
