Narrator: G.O.B. had recently made a recording of his ventriloquism act.

Engineer: “Franklin Comes Alive,” take one.

Narrator: He hoped it would break down racial barriers and maybe be a crossover hit.

G.O.B.: (Singing.) / It ain’t easy being white / (Singing, as Franklin.) / It ain’t easy being brown / (Singing, as himself.) / All this pressure to be bright / (Singing, as Franklin.) / I got children all over town / (Singing, as himself.) / Sometimes... / (In normal voice.) Hey, where’d the guy go?
Still one of the show's finest moments.

This show is a freaking snore.

Ellen has bombed. Emmy Idol is pretty close to retarded.

Emmy Idol isn't retarded; it's meant to be silly and it is.

Ellen isn't hosting much, but she's been working on small jokes and they have been going over well enough.

(Michael is talking to his mother over the phone):
Michael: Go ahead and tell GOB that I'll be telling the cops that it was him in the truck, so he'll be joining me here. I've got a nice, hard cot, with his name on it.
Lucille: You'd do that to your own brother?
(pause)
Michael: I said 'cot.'

:lol

...what the hell? Like, she's the LEAST deserving of the three of them! And the least funny! My god...this is a farce.

...WORST. LEAD ACTRESS. WINNERS. EVER.

Okay...this thing just went downhill FAST.

Are those quotes being aired on the Emmy's?

I must've missed it, 60 minutes is on. Worth watching the repeat, espeically if you're an AD fan and will mark out when and if they win awards?

I take it this was a DH win. Which one? If it's Teri Hatcher then I agree, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman own her (nice) arse.

Felicity Huffman won for Sports Night! SHOE MONEY TONIGHT!

And Kristin Bell better win Emmy Idol, because look at those swiveling hips. Come on.

It was Huffman...who is a better actress, but her character is unfunny. Hatcher gives the best comedic performance by far, and Cross is the best overall performance...Huffman does well in neither of the two areas.

Also of note...Arquette's performance may be one of the most bland on television...it's a well-acted show on the whole, but not because of her.

I find Hatcher's comedic performance 1-dimensional. She quirms in embarassing situations and that's it. Cross is undoubtedly the best overall and I think, the best comedic because her character can be really funny without having to be goofy or obvious, and should have won over either of the other two, but I rate Huffman quite highly as well. My only reservations about Huffman is more to do with the writers kinda pushing her aside towards the end of the first series, choosing to overplay the Susan/Mike on-again, off-again romance.

No, she was just an unsympathetic, one-dimensional character that took her kids' medication and went insane. She's a good actress, but the character is just not well-written enough to deserve an award.

Go Bateman/Braff!

Dear god...Tony Shalhoub AGAIN? I love Monk and all, but Bateman and Braff got madly overlooked. I'm glad to see him tearing up Ray though...nice to see they didn't give it to him, at least.

Shalhoub got it?!

Fuck that. Bateman or Braff deserved it.

These are some absolutely ABSURD Acting Winners. This is NUTS. Like, what the hell? Hugh Laurie holds a show on his shoulders and gets nothing!

This is it; the Emmys have officially jumped the shark. The nominations have always been quite lame, but to see them nominate great actors and then just give it to the same people as last year...bullshit.

Man...this kid is so very charismatic. I have to watch Everybody Hates Chris.

Go Bateman/Braff!

Lets just agree that no matter what we think of Hatcher and Huffman respectively, Marcia Cross owns them both (and Eva Longoria twice over - from an acting perspective).

And the eternal Bateman/Braff dilema. Who to root for. Both so deserving. On the one hand a win for Bateman will be good for AD, which is desirable given it's precarious existence and Jessica Walters being criminally overlooked (what happened with Best Supporting Actor). On the other, Bateman has already won this one (I think, was it an Emmy, or another award), and Braff has also been criminally overlooked in the past, probably mostly because of his age.

Fuck you, Everybody Loves Raymond. And fuck all the tasteless Americans who love this bullshit show.

The sitcom's death cannot come soon enough.

5 out of the final 6 categories were huge upsets. HUGE.

Spader over Laurie, McShane? Shalhoub over Bateman, Braff, Romano? Huffman over Cross and Hatcher? Raymond over Housewives and Arrested Development? Arquette over Close, Hargitay?

Other than Lost, none of those went to what one would call the "Buzz" people.

The bottom line? At least Lost won. At least Lost won.

Damn. I wanted 24 to win. :( Well, at least it only lost to my second favorite drama :)

If 24 had won the Emmy for Best Dramatic Series...I say this as a fan of the show in general, but it would have only made the Emmys even more of a farce.

Jeez, you guys are acting as though the Emmys have ever been worth a shit. They're worse than the Grammys.
It doesn't matter in the sense of validating worth, but these awards shows do matter in terms of publicity. If good shows were paid more attention, they'd probably do at least marginally better in ratings.

Edit: I mean, if you don't think Arrested Development's comedy win last year didn't help stave off cancellation... you'd be wrong.
