I'm not trying to anti-circlejerk or anything but it seems over the top for Mad Max to be running one of the biggest sweeps of Oscar history.

It wasn't a particularly strong year. I'd probably give all of this to MM too. It's top of its genre, with nearly perfect execution across the board.

It's actually a really good movie. I know there's a lot of hyperbole surrounding it, but it's really just a fun watch, and a damned well executed action movie.

Yeah I've been meaning to watch it. Was actually going to see it in theaters but I unfortunately couldn't make it the night I was going to go with some friends. It's on HBO Go right now though, so I really have no excuse.

Star Wars isn't winning shit. Academy hasn't been very kind to conventional blockbusters in the technical categories in recent years. They almost always favour something they think has merit as an awards type film.
