The Best Game of the Generation

FromSoftware could take the award. I haven't had the feeling of replaying an entire series of games in a long time. Normally I would pick one random game in a trilogy. Bloodborne would be my choice. That or Dark Souls III.
 
This is a great effort, but I don't think brackets are a great way to determine the game of the generation. Ranked voting has always seemed to work for GOTY so not sure why that should change for this one.

In most of these match ups there is a high probability that someone will not have played one or even both of the games and will vote based on some other biased factor.

Even if they have played both games they're only getting a day to vote and these threads get buried very quick.

Those aren't ship girls. They are pilots. I never played Dodonpachi Saidaioujou.
 
Lists and competitions like these are always tricky. For obvious reasons. Personally I miss Detroit: Become Human, Tearaway Unfolded, Rayman Legends and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Glad to see Sonic Mania at least. The Witcher 3 would likely be my choice out of the games left. And I haven't even finished it.

weird it essentially functions the same way to me...definately doesnt play like arkham. definately doesnt play like DmC or bayonetta. the whole strafe combat, heavy light attach schtick is pretty much souls to me, or atleast that style of gameplay is akin to souls would you say?
 
RE2, Near a tomato is a mediocre action game with a 2deep4u nihilistic story about a big ass android girl's obsession with a little boy android's peepee.

Nice music though, Nier>Nier Automata.

im sure its been said but doom 2016 not being on that list is a tragedy (it seems eternal was put in its stead, but i feel doom 2016 is the favored game)

anyway, didnt know this was going on as i avoid gaming side do to console warring and sales worshipping threads. but this is pretty cool so far. seeing fortnite lose made me happy, and confident that this wont completely be a popularity contest (looking at you gamefaqs nintendo fan boys)

that being said... i must admit, breath of the wild is my top pick :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: but i legit love the game. its my personal GOAT, hands down no contest. really couldnt care less about nintendo other than that game and a couple others.

also hoping fallout 4 beats ffvii remake but i seriously fucking doubt it

dude im such a nerd for that game. i have a save where im collecting one of each item in the game, and my chests are so full of shit that im pretty sure its slowing my game down :messenger_tears_of_joy: also might have something to do with the all the displays of unique items, weapons and armors i have around my base too.

the game is shit if you try to play it the way bethesda wants you too lol. but i just do my own thing, like collecting, exploring . i dont think ive ever made it a quarter of the way through the campaign in FO4. but ive discovered every location and collected almost every item int he game. im sure i still have a bunch of stuff i havent found yet. so even after probably close to 1k hours in the game, ill still be going back for more one of these days. AND i havent even touched the DLC yet.

for the list provided for this tournament, FO4 would be y top pick if it wasnt for breath of the wild. and i know people haaaaate FO4 lol so it kinda makes the anarchist in me giggle

Funny, I hated everything about Fallout 4, the buildings, the enemies, the quests, the writing, the characters... But i thought the DLC Far Harbor was actually pretty good.
Nick Valentine was a great companion as well.

understood 👍 yeah im defintiely in the minority with FO4 love. its one of those weird things that happens to you sometimes in life, where you love something to death and think everyone else must feel the same way bc its just that good (in youre own mind, at least). and then you come to find out youre like the only one who loves it and youre just baffled lol. and then you start questioning yourself, like if everyone else hates this thing, maybe im looking at it all wrong? but no, i just really fucking love the game. again, i dont play the game the way bethesda wants me too, i always do my own thing with their games... been doing the same explore, collect, level up routine since oblivion... i never buy or sell anything, i always skip through the dialog (i seriously have very little idea what the story is in FO4 lol) and i avoid quest lines most of the time.

happens with movies, books, music... anything really. FO4 is one of those things for me. for the life of me i cant see what it is other people are seeing. i just think the game, although flawed (like most bethesda games), is dripping with atmosphere and looks and sounds gorgeous. i dunno what it is man, ive listened to all the complaints (some i can see, some have me scratching my head). but i think we all find our selves in that minority place once in a while. and for FO4, thats where i am

and thats good to hear about far harbor. cant wait to jump to that stuff one of these days.

That's a probable matchup but I don't think it's obvious. Zelda will have to get past horizon, and a lot of people would vote against zelda out of a hatred of it even if they don't like its opponent.
