The binding of Isaac: Repentance releases on switch, ps5, ps4 and Xbox series x THIS THURSDAY! ( nov. 4th )

The 7 new trophies added sound like quite the challenge, but I would expect nothing less.

Can't wait to dive in again and check out all the new content.

I'm so stoked, gonna store my current save to the cloud and go in with 3 empty files and do it all over again from the beginning!!!

I swear this had a physical release, thought I saw it for sale at bestbuy but now I don't see it.
It had a preorder for physical for a while, but Nicolas pulled it from all retail and is only selling physical copies thru their official site. Downer is they won't be available til later in the year last I heard, aren't ready for the console launch

This game must be impossibly large at this point. I last played at Rebirth and cannot imagine the amount of content in it now.

I really don't want this to come across as trolling, but for the life of me I can't understand why people like this game. The stages look like shit, the characters look like shit, the art design is boring and it looks like a very basic shooter. What's happening that the game has been going on for what? 5 or 10 years?

Without a doubt the best roguelite ever made, already sank 300+ hours between Switch and PC versions but still barely scratching the surface (all marks on two characters).

For me personally it's the tight controls, the simplicity and last but not least, all the random combinations. Makes every run interesting since you don't know what Isaac is gonna be like. When you hit those perfect upgrades you just feel so damn superior.

I get that the design isn't to everybody's taste, but to me it doesn't matter when the gameplay mechanics are so good.

I enjoy it a lot.

The game is basically if you were to take the dungeon layouts of The Legend of Zelda, complete with bombable hidden rooms, combine it with tight twin-stick shooter action, hundreds upon hundreds of items that interact with each other in unpredictable and interesting ways, and some gnarly enemies and epic boss fights.

It's pretty brilliant if you spend time with it.

It's all about the randomness, with Repentance there will be 716 unique item pickups which changes how you play.

So you may start off at the beginning moving and shooting like this

Later on, depending on your pickups you could be playing like this.

Or this

Or this

Or even to the point where it gets difficult to see the screen at all

I can see it on the store now but I'm not seeing a PS5 upgrade?
Just a PS4 addon and a PS5 standalone… :-/
Tyrone said on stream there is no console upgrade path. I'm waiting on confirmation of separate ps4/ps5 trophy lists to decide on which one to go with, but ps5 apparently is a decent amount better then ps4 version as far as loads, frame rate, etc.

Cool, have bought the PS5 version.
I've put hundreds of hours into the game so they deserve it.

Couldn't figure out how to transfer my save and the PS5 version comes with a brand new trophy set so I'm starting over. PS5 version is fast, there are no more loading screens.

Ordered my physical copy from the Nicalis store back in february, I can't wait to finally play it hoping they will ship it soon....

I don't think I can leave my PS4 version at 73/80 trophies that's gonna bug the shit out of me. So there is two separate trophy lists for the PS4 and PS5 version, interesting. I may have to double dip on the PS5 version in the future if I feel like starting from scratch again, but I guess PS4 version it is for now.

So with the PS4 version you just buy Repentance as DLC and with the PS5 version you buy the full game?

It is almost paralyzing. Learning what all the 700+ items do is getting to 'learning a language' levels of complexity. You need to have the Platinum God cheat sheet handy all the time.
The console versions should add the External Item Descriptions mod to make it a little easier, pick the wrong object and your synergy might be ruined.

Thanks for the answers. It still looks terrible to me, but at least I can get an idea why people like it. Is there an ending to it? Or is the objective just to get more weapon upgrades and keep destroying enemies in new rooms?

Damn, I need that shit on my Vita.

Im still slumping all day every day with the Rebirth-Version and need that fresh "just one last try before bed"-goodness

I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what differences the PS5 has when compared to the PS4? I've searched and can't find any info.

I'd like to buy the PS4 upgrade but if there's a huge difference I'd go with PS5.

Great game that i enjoy over and over. I can't wait to see what they've added to the previous dlc.

It's a bit hard to tell since everything has been overhauled. But it's likely just :

-load time removal
-frame rate unlocked
-new trophy set

Probably haptics as well but hard to tell if that was changed without playing the PS4 version.

Gladly forked over $60 for the ps5 version. Having spent billions of hours on this game I don't mind throwing the dev a little extra support. Shit, I'll probably end up buying the expansion on Switch too so I can have it on the go.
The ps5 will be a nice virgin save, can't wait

No worries. There's an ending to it, but you unlock stuff and go again. The whole point is to get one of those awesome runs (afaik). Though I have to mention that I've only played the game up till Rebirth, so I'm not familiar with all the updates and upgrades after that.

Thank you.

I know that there won't be a great difference but 120fps would have been interesting and tempting. I'll grab the dlc on PS4 if there isn't too much to write home about.

Well I finally got to sit down and start the ps5 version tonight. Much better experience then ps4.

I always thought I was decent at Isaac since I had 1k hours into the ps4 version, so started my new files and went into hard mode with Isaac.

Man this run was bad. First floor item was Telport 🤮, then everything in order on my death sheet. This Bumbo boss is no joke with base damage and only three hearts going in. Just ran at me and smacked me three times and I was toast 😂

I knocked out challenges 2 (Jera), 17 (Deaths Touch), and 15 (Swallowed Penny) for a few more helpful items.

I did unlock Lazarus on my first try, was trying for the third devil deal item for Azazel, but Bumbo thought otherwise. Back to it!

That boss is brutal, died on my first fight against him too. I'm making sure to try do the daily runs each day since you need to play 31 of them to unlock something. Played as Jacob and Esau which is really difficult.

Overall the difficulty isn't as bad as I was expecting considering the complaints. It's harder, especially starting from scratch but not impossible.

Repentance is awesome on PC its also brutal compared to the other dlc.
Now that it's on console hopefully we get some patches because pc hasn't been balanced in months.

At its core it is a basic shooter but quickly gets bat shit insane. All I can say is watch a god run.

For sure, I think I just forgot how bad base Isaac is without D6. Those first few runs can be brutal. My third run was pretty strong and ended the night on a 5 streak with 5 different characters for the secret.

Unlocked Maggy, Cain, Azazel, Eve, Lazarus, and Eden. Gonna try for Samson tomorrow, some of these new enemies are just cheap hits, but now that I got non Isaac people it's gotten easier already.

I tried the daily today with ??? And in the first room was a giant pill, I took it and it was a -2 hp, so my daily didn't last long 😂

Gave a few tries at Solar System Challenge last night, good lord I don't recall this being hard at all pre-Repentance. Some of these new enemies are way too tanky or aggro for these crappy flies. Gonna try to knock that and and "It's in the Cards" done today to get Pethro and SMB unlocked then I can get back to runs for checkmarks and stay away from challenges since I'll have all the semi-quality unlocks without so many of the really bad ones I can unlock later on.

I've just beat the Solar System challenge today, was lucky enough to find the potato peeler in a shop, so carved myself up a super meat boy.
