But forget all that, lets all forget how the manga has been presenting the saiyans as heroes, and they were fucked up planet conquering pirates who ruined whole civilizations and would have been that way even if frieza never came through

Goku's treatment of Gohan during the Cell Games was the breaking point for me. Piccolo called him out on his asinine goal.There was no excuse for Goku being so stupid and irresponsible.

However, I don't blame him for the gohan thing. What the fuck was he supposed to do. Goku trained for a year in the hyperbolic time chamber, and vegeta dropped the ball by letting cell go perfect. When he got out, he knew " I can't fucking beat this guy as I am. No one on this planet I can sense can either. But my son can" so... what does he do? All he can do is throw gohan to the wolves. Because either way it means a blown up planet if shit goes left.

Shinji is a great deal of things, he's a "nice guy" shit head. On the other hand, he's in a heavy handed series that never actually adresses the fucked up shit that has shinji the way he is and the lesson is to just acclimate to your problems... that isn't a way to deal with problems. But that's more of a japanese culture problem from what I understand. It doesn't excuse shinji despite where you came from you have to take responsibly for the shitty things you do, but at that same time if you don't ever disucss why shinji is shinji all you get is more shinji's. Its something that I'm confused never actually comes in evangeleon, a series that is just rife with critcism of the genre and japanese society as a whole, and anime culture. Never actually discuses he nuances that got shinji to point B, it gets you the fish, it doesn't teach you how to fish, ya feel me?
