The Boys executive producer Eric Kripke -- as well as several of the show's stars -- took part in Comic-Con@Home, where he discussed the topical issues that Season 2 would tackle.

"I can say we're going after white supremacy in Season 2," Kripke said. "We're going after white nationalism in Season 2. We're going after systemic racism in Season 2. And all of those things really fucking suck." He went on to discuss how strong characters are priority number one with The Boys, but the team tries to include commentary pertaining to the real world as well.

Again, the whole Homeland in middle America during the rally stuff never sprung your mind in what direction they're gonna go with him and his followers? You can't even say it wasn't hinted at in Season 1, it was there, the overly religious, the cults, etc.

I think it's Homelander who is gonna be berated and shit on a lot as he's the "All American Hero." S2 is gonna introduce a black woman (Who was a man in the comics) who is on equal footing with him in terms of power. The pride of the white American male is gonna get shook in that angle.

It’s so weird to watch white males being treated as a villain. Like somehow this is all okay in everyone’s eyes now and we’re just evil and need to be put in our place. It’s honestly just strange and sad.

The two main leads are white men, and again, Homelander being set up as the villain was RIGHT THERE in season 1, dude was a creep with mommy issues but took the "All American Hero" to his head for the country and God. The season even ended with him giving into his power role and turn into a villain behind closed doors whilst wanting to maintain his image for his loyal Middle American fan base. What direction were most of you expecting this show to take?

I'll give season 2 a shot, but I'll drop the show if the racism themes will end up being in your face.

I did.

there were 3 main plotpoints in the series

1) the fall into a revenge spiral of the main protagonist
2) the revenge plot against "sups" by butcher
3) the big evil corporation trying to seize a contract for military Us operations

and by the end of the first season we have

1) the protagonist got over revenge (testified by his refusal to go through with it at the end of the series)and also got a cute new sweet love interest
2) the entire reason why butcher was angry at the superheroes was because he thought Homelander raped and killed his girlfiend, which ends up not being true at all, the sex appears to have been consensual and she faked her own death just to start a new life with Homelander's spawn.Hell, Homelander while of course a sociopath, shows clearly he has no animosity against butcher since he could have easily killed him at the end of the series, instead he takes the time to show him the truth.
3) the president of the big evil corporation which was orchestrating the whole thing dies.

i mean sure there are some "unresolved" stuff like

1)the superhuman terrorists created by the big corp
2) what homelander will do now

but it's something our protagonists were not concerned AT ALL during the entirety of season 1. those are things important for the world the series is set on but has no importance for the guys we have been following thus far

I knew from the moment this series was announced they would have this angle. Season 1 just serves to rope in viewers. Then they double down. As soon as I saw the blonde blue-eyed hero standing lead centre in the promotional poster I knew it would be just another anti-white male diatribe.

such a dour, depressing and 'edge-lord'-y style show that i thought just hit you on the head with a message, then showed you aquaman getting raped as a joke??

the 'butcher' or whoever is crap, the main character is a nothing, the 'starlight' girl took her an episode or 2 to realise the whole superhero charade was a shambles, and then her story stopped being interesting. the only relatively interesting stuff is seeing superman and wonder woman going about and superman killing a plane of people.

sorry this show is garbage ass (im gunna wait for a reply about how i dont understand its brilliance because im unaware it was originally a comic book, and somehow the understanding of the origin gives person complete power over reason).

It had its moments, but I criticized it heavily in the official thread. All the male characters are continuously emasculated for sport, and The Boys really don’t accomplish much themselves.

It's a shame to see Eric Kripke go this way. Season 1-5 of Supernatural is one of my favorite television stories ever; epic, hilarious, and a magical ride.

As many have said, I could see it all over the first season, even if Kripke's fun style and sense of humor were slightly masking it. It's a product of everything the modern millenial stereotype believes, and it was incredibly off-putting, and as another said, dour.

I had no intention to go a second round with that in the first place, and certainly not intensified.

This is why it only shows up in later seasons (See Westworld for example).

- Why do more black people kill black people than white people? (like 2000 last year)
- Why are more unarmed white people killed by police than black people?
- Why do like 200 black people die in swimming pools every year?

I mean the numbers through the last years cant lie or are people just pretending those numbers are fake?

I just dont hope that they kill another TV show with woke bullshit. Will watch it but not expecting much now.

So i guess Homelander will be the white supremacist symbol that is repressing all the other lesser heroes?

Might as well have said "Hey, don't watch my show." as far as I'm concerned. I was on the fence about the series, thinking I'd jump in at a later date, but now I will skip it entirely.

It's a great show, yes there are some themes woven in there but the ground was set in season one for this direction, it honestly feels like a lot of people here didn't pay attention to the plot or ignored it on purpose, or even, most likely, want an excuse to continue hating on something that even has a slight sliver of "woke" in it.

I guess someone who read the comics can chime in but wasn't one of the characters a WSer? Or am I mixing that up with watchmen. I know the comic is way crazier but from memory there was a super hero who was basically a Nazi.

Stormfront is the most powerful member of Payback. His name and fictionalized backstory portrays him as a reincarnated Viking. His name also references the infamous Neo-Nazi website of the same name. In reality, Stormfront originally came to the United States from Nazi Germany in 1938 with Jonah Vogelbaum as the only product of the Third Reich's V-Program. He was given a very powerful and unique version of Compound V as a member of the Hitler Youth. Vogelbaum saw Stormfront as a danger due to his deep belief in Nazi ideology, and recommended that Vought-American destroy him. Instead, VA used genetic material taken from Stormfront as the basis for the experiments that would create the Homelander and Black Noir.

Stormfront was shown to be unrepentantly racist, and an enthusiastic supporter of Nazism. It was revealed that Stormfront destroyed the levees and caused widespread flooding in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, aiming to ethnically cleanse the city and to free up valuable real estate for VA. He treated his teammates in Payback with contempt, especially Soldier Boy. After slaughtering several Mafioso he sneered, "Italians. What the Fuhrer was thinking, I'll never know." He also referred to the Female as a "Mongrel" and "Untermensch" (subhuman).[31]

Stormfront was one of the most powerful superhumans next to the Homelander and Black Noir. He possessed superhuman strength, durability, flight, and the ability to exhale what appeared to be lightning bolts from his mouth. This "lightning" was powerful enough to burn humans alive and blow up the Boys' van. He also aged much more slowly than a normal human; although in his 70s, he retained the appearance and vitality of a man half his age. He was far stronger than any of the individual members of the Boys, and able to easily overpower them. The Female, Mother's Milk and Billy Butcher were able to injure him during single combat, but it took the combined efforts of Butcher, Frenchie, Mother's Milk and Vas (each vocalizing the efforts of the British, Free French, American and Soviet forces during World War II) to put him down, kicking and curb-stomping him to death.[32]

Interesting that they gender swapped him. So they are going to make a female the big Nazi racist? Hard to believe but I guess they will Karen her up. Or TWIST she will be really good and stand up to Homelander, she was never a racist it was the "right wing" that smeared her, I am WAMAN hear me ROAR.
