This movie has to be one of the best dark comedies of the late 80's. When it came out I was probably around 8 or so and it was kind of scary, too. I think this is also one of Tom Hanks' best movies. oh yeah, the music score was PERFECT for this movie.

"The same thing happened to me last week... I was over there, except it wasn't bees... it was a foaming squirrel."

Yeah, it's pretty damned funny. Tom Hanks has always been really good with comedy. He just has a perfect and natural timing. One of my favorite little bits is that shuffle he does when coming down the porch steps of the burning house. The film has a ton of small moments that are really funny like that.

hahaha, I just remembered this one today as well. Incredibly funny.

"My taxes pay your salary!"
"Look, I don't want to hear any of your bullshit either!"

Jonny were you watching this on Encore tonight? It has its moments, but some of the scenes are awful and it so obvious it was filmed on a studio backlot. That said, Rick Ducommun gives a great performance as Art. Feldmann is also excellent.

"Whats the Hatch?"

what a great movie: Hanks' scream in his backyard, the beercan crush, putting himself on the strechter and putting himself in the back of the ambulance.

Heh.

Oh, and...
"Ray, this is Walter"

"I've never seen that... I've never seen someone drive their garbage down to the curb and then beat the hell out of it with a stick."

I wish Tom Hanks would do more comedy like this. The world needs more Volunteers, Money Pit, Big, Turner and Hooch, and Joe Versus the Volcano.

Also, I hate Tom Hanks haters.

Don't forget Dragnet.

Pep Streebeck : Well, Muzz, I guess it's just you, and... and me... and your balls... and this drawer.

The Money Pit is great, especially the scene where the bathtub falls through the floor and Hanks just stands there laughing for like 2 minutes with this really fucked up laugh.

I like the part where he's stuck in the floor and starts making little paper airplanes out of money.

And, yeah, Dragnet is awesome too.

Dragnet is one of the best movies of all time, man. Tom Hanks used to be really cool...then he got all of these seriouse roles. I really liked his last two movies, though, the Terminal and the Ladykillers. I think thats the stuff he does best.
