The reason we have cross gen well into 2025 (Call of Duty says hello). They know literally nothing about their hobby and believe any and every rumor. Its shocking.

If Im into a hobby, I at least know the basics of how the industry works. I don't know, seems like common sense to me.

Crossgen is an economic and technological necessity at this point.

Even if these were real people, the basics are "game looks cool, buy for the box I have and play it", and that's fine. Us "hardcore gamers" are in the minority, believe it or not. The industry need the money of the average, casual gamer to survive. Let them live, my guy.

Yep, a friend of mine is a pilot and he owns / maintains a small plane. When I try to read his forums I feel like a dumbass too.

Or when I have been relearning a bit of electrical engineering since I want to try and put together a DIY solar setup… it’s harsh as it’s been a long while from college.

Any specialized topic is going to be misunderstood by “normies”. Well and there are a lot of dumb people out there.

What people believe is real when it's just AI generated pic is insane, it has no limits.
I saw a picture of a AI girl on Twitter, the thing looked awful, like bad 3D look, broken fingers and everything, and worst of all, the girl was supposed to be in Paris, and there were two eiffel towers in the background. Somehow, people didn't notice, all the comments thought the girl was real and they were all in love with her.

I have no hope for people when I see how they react to AI stuff. They will believe absolutely anything, even when it looks obviously like AI. The future will be really dark for most people with AI improving constantly, you will make them believe anything.

But I'm mostly surprised at how people really don't notice anything, even glaring issues in pictures.

Yep. Heck, even here on this forum folks often times talk about game dev as if we know what we are talking about, but I'd say most of us don't. So misinformed casual gamers on non-gaming related site isn't really "shocking" at all, imo.

Yeah, and hell, I have worked in IT for 25+ years, have done actual dev work (non gaming) and now days work with fairly modern cloud and AI techniques for a living …

I still get lost when people start really deep dive into modern gaming dev, like rendering techniques and more. Or when folks really start talking about modern chip manufacturing processes because that is no joke on difficulty scale.

Most of the times, I don’t even discuss graphics with people outside of the graphics threads. Most people are not well versed in these subjects like we are and we honestly shouldn’t be either. Our time would be better spent elsewhere.

I spent 2 years on era and gaf discussing ps5 specs in the next Gen speculation threads. By the end we knew more about these consoles, especially the series x than even most journalists. And what did that really do? Two years of speculation and we couldn’t influence any of it. So whats the point? It’s just talk.

Those guys are having fun. I started off commenting in those gamespot comments sections until i found forums. These are probably just kids on their dads accounts.

This forums average age is like 33. That’s why you don’t see those posts on here as often. Be grateful.

There are always casuals that are a gen behind, that's how the PS5 expects to continue to put up big numbers the next few years, especially with gta 6.
