(Edit, Evergreen is the company involved, the ships name is apparently 'Ever Given'.)

Atleast your crappy day cant be worse than the one this crew is having.

The story is about a ship called the EVER GIVEN. Another shipping company is called EVERGREEN.

Wow it would be hilarious except just one ships accident has blocked one of the worlds most important shipping routes and the ripples growing every moment it remains stuck there are not going to be pleasant for the world's logistics and economy.

...I also agree, expect lots of memes about this.

There was a sandstorm, high winds, and the ship suffered a blackout. I'd consider that a pretty good set of mitigating circumstances for the pilot.

I don't think it is coming loose without some excavation around the bow. If you look at the waterline it's pretty obvious that a lot of the ship's weight is resting on the bow, I'd be very careful simply trying to push it loose from the stern. You break that ship in half in the middle of the canal and you'll have a real mess on your hands.

Was actually curious about how they'd manage to move it.

Still there today.

The current estimate is that they might have to wait for monday (when the tide is at its highest) or lose weight by unloading (which could take a few days, not exactly in a good spot).

The captain is going to be in some real trouble.

As someone who works in logistics this has the potential to go down in history as one of the biggest logistics disasters in history lol
Compared to what? I mean, the Suez canal has been through worse times, including an eight year traffic jam.
