The container ship 'Evergreen' has run aground in the Suez canal and is completely blocking it

What took them so long to change the course of the ship

Is it really that bad ? Shallow water perhaps?
This ship needs 16 meters (below water), which is there in the middle canal , but it drifted to the side and there is only a depth of 10 meters , so yeah it banked. It’s also. Very heavy .. so a special Dutch tug boat is now being used. But don’t despair, we will manage .

And on top of this , this ship entered with bad weather, instead of waiting as instructed.

Hmm this is just an accident - imagine what would happen if someone launched some air to sea missiles and sunk few ships in the channel.

So apparantly they got it loose

the ship weighs 224.000 tons, they had to dregde up 30.000 cubic metres of sand according to Boskalis. 11 tugboats and two "ocean tugboats" (IDK) were used

Captain's probably on suicide watch. Will never work in the industry or any other commanding position. Poor fellow :messenger_grinning_sweat:

you need air to ship missiles ideally to sink ships.

air to sea will just go into the water, no point in firing them unless you are targeting sharks or scuba divers.

So crazy thread necromancy but I've just heard the best theory yet about why this ship got stuck...

Apparantly Egypt moved some mummies today and rumours abound about a curse...

anyway a great excuse to post this obscenely pompous but lavish spectacle... they even built fucking custom cars for the sarcophagi
