Watching Dark Knight on TNT right now. It's pretty funny the way Harvey says "Rachel, Rachel..." as he's being dragged away by Batman.

He should have realized Nolan has no jurisdiction.

Wally Pfister makes a deal with Alcon Entertainment to direct his first feature film.
EXCLUSIVE: Alcon Entertainment has acquired an untitled screenplay written by newcomer Jack Paglen that will mark the feature directorial debut of Wally Pfister, the Oscar-winning cinematographer whose credits include Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Moneyball. The deal was made by Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, who’ll start pre-production immediately for an early fall shoot.

Wow didn't know Wally worked on Moneyball.

Still need to see that movie. Had no desire when it came out but the praise it gets is going to force me to watch it.

LEGO GAF suggested I post this here to help get support.

I submitted my custom LEGO Batmobile Tumbler to CUUSOO which most of you probably know from the minecraft LEGO set, basically if you submit an idea for a set and it reaches 10000 votes it goes into submission to become a real set.

Video Promo I whipped up for the set

Wetwired I have not bought a Lego set since my early teens, and I would buy your awesome Tumbler in a heartbeat!

Matthew Modine compares Nolan to Kubrick:

"Working with Kubrick marked me forever, it was a great experience. Two years were dedicated to Full Metal Jacket, and I have no words to describe the impact that had on me. He liked to ask the right questions to an actor, to the intent through the understanding of a character, which is something I've revived with Christopher Nolan on The Dark Knight Rises."

"My relationship with Nolan became very interesting towards the end of filming, because I started asking questions similar to those experienced with Kubrick, and although I only spent a few months on the set. I find it very important that, a director question his actors. Something that often does not happen. It is a mistake many (directors), will only just say what to do and nothing more, when to lead and invite to play through the understanding of the character's situation."

And he reveals one very tiny story tidbit (tagged for the Sculli-sensitives):

"It will be a fantastic movie, because in addition to telling a story about Batman, there is a parallel story about corporations, (...) the parable of the world in which we live."

Its strange that here we are in March, and nothing new in the way of a cool trailer.

TDK wasn't handled this way was it?

TDK had a teaser in July, trailer 1 + prologue in December, and trailer 2 in May.

So far, Rises has been on the same track. Rumor is that second trailer will be attached to Dark Shadows in May.

Thanks!, it seems like the only way these things reach enough votes is by going viral and getting a large fan community behind it (like what minecraft did), I don't know of any big batman communities though? batman on film is the only website I know of.

Question for Sculli or Expendable or someone who knows what they're talking about when it comes to film technology:

Ok..so typically the distinction between IMAX and LieMAX is that the latter is a digitally projected retrofitted multiplex screen, whereas the former is a giant screen with a 70mm projection system.

In the GTA, we've got a few different IMAX's at local theater chains, the most notable ones being the Scotiabank theater downtown, and the Coliseum Mississauga. Both of these have giant screens, and they had 70mm projection systems..until now.

Cineplex is currently in the process of replacing their IMAX film projectors with IMAX digital projectors. This creates a sort of middle ground between IMAX and LieMax..the screen size is right, but the projection system isn't true 70mm film. I can confirm the change is already underway at some theaters, having seen John Carter last night at the Coliseum Mississauga IMAX.

My question is if I see The Dark Knight Rises in one of these theaters, will the sections shot in IMAX still blow up to cover the whole screen? Or will they be cropped into a standard aspect ratio?

This pisses me off to no end since without the Cineplex IMAX theaters, the GTA no longer really has a true IMAX system (outside of Ontario place, I guess). Then again, if the aspect ratio is still capable of expanding to IMAX proportions, it's not as huge a deal.

If there's anybody with no idea what I'm talking about..here's a breakdown of all the info here:

Whats worse is that some of the older Huge screen 70mm IMAX theaters are converting over to digital projection. Some Batman fans were surprised not to see their real IMAX theater on the list of 70mm screens showing The Dark Knight Rises prologue. This is the reason why. You can no longer guarantee that your movie screening will be projected in 70 mm by the size of the IMAX theater these days. While I haven’t experienced one of these converted theaters, I can’t imagine that the 2x2k digital projection on a huge old school IMAX screen would look bright enough to rival a normal cinema theatre.
