Well his main goal in becoming Batman wasn't to stop all crime by himself, but to inspire people into taking action so he wouldn't have to. He was already set to retire in TDK thanks to guys like Gordon and Dent.
2005 + 0.5 = either 2005 or 2006 + 8 = either 2013 or 2014

If Blake's supposed to be around JGL's age, that would put him at 20ish around The Dark Knight. Remember when Gordon said "5 dead, 2 of them cops" and fanboys everywhere freaked out because the math didn't work? Nolan insinuated a couple years back that that might be significant.
So, here's my theory:
One of the cops Harvey Dent killed thanks to the Joker's tomfoolery was Blake's dad, which gives him a vendetta similar to Wayne. Kind of fuels the fire for all those saying JGL might be a "thematic" homage to Robin, or someone who could possibly even take on the Batman mantle if Bruce died or moved on.
Just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks, but who knows.

Didn't Dent mean Ramirez and Weurtz? The other three were Maroni and his two guys. He doesn't understand Dent's obsession with the coin and chance, so he assumed that Ramirez was dead along with Weurtz.

Seeing Selina with the necklace makes him put it together and realize Catwoman = the woman is he is falling for as Bruce.
The scene in the trailer with her trying it on is set right before this event they are at, she puts on the necklace she stole as Catwoman.
