Yeah... that's a pretty dumb name.
Calling it "The Dark Knight" followed by something else makes it seem like it's a sequel only to the second movie of the series. It's basically completely dismissing Batman Begins.

The third movie should continue the trend of having totally different names so it seems like a consistent trilogy.

As far as villains are concerned, I'd really like to see a Penguin (though Nolan hates him, right?), though I think Bane has a better chance. We need somebody who can beat the crap out of Batman since the mind games have already been done.

Who cares? I mean dislike the title all you want but who cares if some dumb asses out there think its a sequel to the Dark Knight. Who by now doesn't know that this is a series?

i really don't care about the title. i just pray to god they drop bale's retarded batman voice (iirc, i read that they actually digitally ''enhanced'' his batvoice). it's so fucking offputting; it takes me out of every scene with batman in it. christ, it's so horrible.

"THE PEOPLE...........OF GOTHAM......JUST SHOWED YOU......"

damn it, man. learn to breathe!

There's some weird ass logic going on in this thread.

WB forced him to put Dark Knight in the title, after he made the first live action Batman film without Batman in the title?

Huh?

Huh?

If you are referring to me, I straight up said they didn't force him. I'm sure there are high level meetings at every movie that involves millions of dollars and WB markerting department probably pushed pretty hard to have Dark Knight in the title.

is this one of those "you didn't get it" situations ? do you think public enemies was brilliant too?

the only cool thing about miami vice was the cinematography.. otherwise it was a bore

No no no. Public Enemies was pretty lame I agree. But Miami Vice was great. I loved how Mann pushed so deep into the undercover culture.

It probably also accounted for so many people hating it due to that fact. But it was far from boring I felt. LOL@ Buckethead wanting some cheerful push it to the limit 80s style film. What's even more ridiculous is that he's asking for that in a NOLAN BATMAN thread.

It's a bit crazy since Nolan also falls into ultra-serious territory with his Batman films.

And also with the way Mann was going with Heat, Insider and Collateral. It's logical to think that he would go the same route with Miami Vice.

Wow, that is an awful and boring title. Have some faith in the brand, WB.

Good news about no Riddler, though. Fingers crossed for some version of Clayface.

Or King Tut.

No. She wasn't even good the first time around.
Considering her experience/performances in film since then, she could pull off catwoman very well today.

Plus, she's still got the look and fit of catwoman after all those years.

:lol people hating on the name :lol

The first movie was "Batman Begins" for crying out loud, it's uphill from then on.

I can't wait for the more Michael Caine and Bale voice overs in the teaser.

Alfred: Come on , Master, get up. It's 11:30.
Bruce: Go away Alfred.
Alfred: You're sleeping on the floor and it smells of piss again.
Bruce: I think I fell over last night.
Alfred: And why do we fall Master Wayne?

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.
Now that you mention it, if the "Why do we fall Master Wayne?" line is being used in this 3rd one, that would actually make this title awesome IMO.

I don't think it's dismissing it as much as some of you think. The structure of the title is identical to BB's.

The guy was riding around Gotham all night, took down an entire Swat team, Joker's goons, dogs and the Joker himself. Can you really blame him?

I know nobody's going to listen to me, but I think the main villain of this movie should be Bane. Not like the usual Bane with the luchador mask, venom, and everything. He should have this crazy breathing mask and wear a cool coat. He'd look like this.

Wouldn't that be awesome. Probably'd never happen though.

Probably needs to be a side-villain too. I think Catwoman could work (Maybe Anne Hathaway?), and they could have her be sort of an anti-hero character with unclear motives.

All of this is about as likely as Sheriff Dangle from Reno 911 being in the movie, but hey, maybe there's a chance.

Except for the whole her not really playing Catwoman in returns. That whole movie got the characters wrong. It also complies in comparison to Batman. That's another thread though.

I actually really like the title. Makes sense.

Quite like the title i'm sure it will make sense in context.

Also good news at no Riddler.

I'm still hoping for Black Mask and Talia

I demand that everyone suggesting villains write their own fanfiction depicting how they would do it. It sounds like it would be amazing.

The reason I'd like to see Catwoman isn't because I know exactly how I'd do it, it's because I'd like to see how Nolan would do the character. I might have some ideas for what I think would be interesting, but I'm not silly enough to be certain my ideas would actually be movie-worthy ones.

I don't like the sound of the title, but that as no effect on the film anyway. Disappointed in the lack of Riddler, but in Nolan we trust. Nolan is all the more awesome for pushing for no 3D (and of course he gets his way like a BOSS).

yes

it's not the speech you give, it's how you say it.
it wasn't the speech we deserved, it was the speech we needed.
NO MORE DEAD COPS!

Returns, by our current "Nolan" standard of batman it's never going to be as 'good' even if Pfeiffer did the role justice under Burton's direction.

Catwoman directed by Nolan could keep the naughty while subtracting some of the overdone psychopathic-narcissist angle to make it work for Nolan, Joker is an exception to the rule due to his naturally being a crazy psychopath (remember Nicholsons's performance). Pfeiffer can pull it off.

Haha, I had completely forgotten how offputting that title was to me initially. I guess I'd just totally gotten used to it. :lol

This man is right. It is all uphill from there.

Why would she have to be "naughty"?

She's catwoman. Her very curves are a weapon. She fights by taking men's guard down, hell even batman falls for it.

Besides, Nolan hasn't worked a female villan-like character into a batman film yet, it'd certainly be interesting to see his take with a top-notch actress who already knows the role.

Zzoram said:
Catwoman is awful and Riddler is too similar to the Joker.

Poison Ivy and Mr.Freeze are too fantastical for the more realistic Nolan films. Bane has always been a pretty minor villain, he's got big muscles, that's not exactly interesting.

Maybe Nolan will pull out a more cerebral comic book villain that can be grounded in reality. Nolan seems to like huge diabolical plots for his villains. The villain has to be someone who sets in motion a crazy evil scheme that Batman has to foil, and there aren't many villains who could fit that role.

You just described Bane. In the comics at least, he's not the moron that he was in Batman & Robin or Arkham Asylum, and he's even more intelligent than he is in the 90's animated series/DCU.

I think the film will feature Catwoman in some capacity. Culture is trending feminine, there needs to be a new love interest and the producers/execs will want the film's appeal to be broad as possible.

They could just bring back Katie Holmes to reprise the real Rachel Dawes

Nolan's gotta find a female name that's as fun to scream as RAAAYCHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLL!!!!

It's gonna be tough.

Its not a horrible title, but at the same time I really dont think it distinguishes itself enough. The title sounds like that of a subplot or something following TDK. That said, I really am looking forward to it.
