The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 3) - No Riddler

I wonder why it was cut... its so short it seems silly for pacing to have been the reason.

Also, I thought it would have been neat for batman to rush back up there only to find everyone in shock/some in tears and one dead body lying on the floor. Kinda play up the "results of your choices" angle a bit.

Then again, there are several odd things about TDK that could easily be fixed and, yet, aren't.

Maybe Nolan will breakdown and do a directors cut in 10 years.

My best guess is IMAX run time limit.

MI4 comes out in Australia on the afternoon of the 14th. We're also almost a day ahead of the US. Rather, Sydney is the first place MI4 is being screened in the world.

What's funny is that I would prefer if the bloody thing weren't attached as I wanna go into TDKR blind.

Can't you go to an IMAX theater that isn't projector and uses digital?

If you have an option to watch a real IMAX film in a 70mm IMAX screen, why would you want to watch it on a.... digital.... what.... why.... what is this...?

The only IMAX screens around me have always been film, so excuse my ignorance. Is digital that much worse?

This is what this thread needs, more crappy posters.

I think I might drag my niece over to mission impossible, MI4 looks fun but doesn't seem like as good as an excuse that I Am Legend was.

I suppose... but i still wish that nolan was not the "theatrical cut is the only cut" kinda guy.

A revised cut (not one with just deleted scenes plopped in) would be lovely. Especially if they didn't have to worry about keeping that pg13 rating.

It's not the same thing at all. An IMAX digital screen is very much like a normal digital screen, just with slightly different standards. In the end it's just a 2k digital projection on a big and maybe curved screen, at a normal aspect ratio.

Real 70mm film based IMAX projections have insane resolution and use huge tall screens for IMAX format scenes which have a totally different aspect ratio.

The way it would have been edited, it probably would have made audiences question how The Joker got to his car so fast. Here you have Batman going from the top of the building to the roof of a car within seconds and The Joker takes the elevator and gets to his car only about 10 seconds later? That's what I'd be asking at least.

Opening Sequence of "The Dark Knight Rises" Will Be Unwrapped Just in Time for the Holidays
The film's prologue will be released exclusively in select IMAX(R) 70mm film theatres.

BURBANK, Calif., Dec 01, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises"--the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy--is one of the most anticipated films of 2012, but moviegoers won't have to wait until next year to see the six-minute opening sequence of the film. The film's prologue will be unveiled exclusively in select 70mm IMAX(R) theatres worldwide. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Prologue will be released in North America on December 16, and in the UK on December 21, 2011. Additional international dates vary by territory and will be announced soon.

In making the 2008 blockbuster "The Dark Knight," Nolan was the first to use IMAX(R) cameras in a major motion picture release, and, as now, audiences were given an advance look at that film's prologue months prior to the Summer 2008 opening. Nolan employed the extremely high-resolution cameras even more extensively on "The Dark Knight Rises"--including the film's prologue--to achieve unprecedented crispness and clarity and a truly immersive experience for the moviegoers.

Christopher Nolan stated, "Our experience on 'The Dark Knight' shooting and projecting IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film was inspiring. The immersive quality of the image goes beyond any other filmmaking tool available, and in revisiting Gotham, we were determined to shoot even more of the movie in this unique format. Giving the fans an early look at an IMAX sequence is a great way to draw attention to what I believe will be an incredible way to experience our story when it comes out next summer."

Sacramento, Providence, and fucking Des Moines get it at their IMAX, but not Portland? Wtf.

I for one will be eagerly anticipating the 240p, upside down, monochromatic, parkinson's-ridden youtube upload this upcoming December 16th.

Two tickets for the NYC Lincoln Square 12/16 9:35 showing are in my possession. Anyone else going?

Oh yeah - two tickets, 42 bucks. This prologue better be everything I've been hyping it up to be in my own mind. (And hopefully Mission Impossible is decent too. Sure, whatever.)

Why would anybody want to ruin one of their most highly anticipated films by watching the intro in some shitty bootleg? You people are cray cray.

Texas is a big state and it looks like the nearest IMAX theater in it is about a four hour drive from Dallas, so it looks like the shitty bootleg version will be the best option for me.

Watched the Dark Knight bank heist online way back when and it didn't affect my enjoyment of the film in theaters when I saw it.

I hate that I'm going to have to see this at the Universal CityWalk theater, but it's worth it.

So who here is going to see the prologue? Or whatever intro thing is going to be at MI4.

I think I'm gonna watch the 1st normal trailer whenever that's released, but everything else I'll have a blackout on.

You know I am usually one of the guys who hates spoilers and avoids them as much as possible but I can't resist this. The best part is that if its like how the introduction to the Joker was, it gives absolutely nothing away about the story/plot of the movie. Its sort of an extended trailer or hype footage. The joker bank robber really gave you nothing about the movie other than serve to show you the Joker in action.

I hope this is similar and just shows the audience Bane. Nothing more.

Can't wait I have my tickets for the Dec 16 935 show @ Lincoln Square in NYC. Two weeks need to fly by now.

Well I guess I will never be wasting my money at a digital imax screen. Some of my friends don't see a benefit to imax, I wonder if they have been going to shitty ones.
