The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 3) - No Riddler

For some reason I seriously doubt they release the trailer today.

WB knows how much hype this movie is creating. They were aware with the TDK too. They basically forced people to go see I Am Legend, though I didn't think the movie was bad, just to catch the Bank Heist scene and or the first trailer for TDK. They waited a week or so before even releasing the HD trailer online. But now they are going to release the trailer a week in advance?

More likely has something to do with some lucky people winning free screenings of the prologue as DM hinted.

EDIT: Also I hate to be that annoying guy but since a lot insiders are have seen the prologue or will over the next few days spoilers will be available all over the net. As a request please spoiler text whatever you find out or post to for people who are either waiting to see it themselves in a week or so or those who won't even see it.

I'm just gonna bank on it being a commercial with a lot of title cards telling people there is a prologue and then a tease of footage right at the end. Not getting my hopes up for a trailer not attached to a movie this weekend, no way.

I'm going with viral video. It could even be that the video contains footage that might be from the movie itself, but it's more than likely that it's just a video that goes with the viral campaign that's meant to keep interest going in the coming weeks for the actual trailer and the prologue.

It'll be tickets to a preview "Early Bird" you'll be getting to see the prologue early, just like they did last year when they handed out those altered trailer reels

Yes, this sounds very un-Warner like. It's not a WB movie unless the cocksuckers force us to watch the trailer for several days in handycam quality.

i haven't read this but apparently its a detailed description of the prologue:

WB logo

Ice. Cold. Crystalized imagery and a very familiar logo of a Bat.
Jim Gordon at Harvey Dents funeral gives a eulogy, a few words about
inspiring others…
CUT—
An unnamed mountainous region.
A jeep rides along the landscape. Hooded men in the back of a jeep are
driven to a small plane… the jeep is met by an armed CIA agent who
takes into custody a political VIP, who is traveling with these hooded
men… or is he? The CIA Douche learns that one of the hooded men is
BANE?!
The hooded men, along with the political VIP are loaded onto the plane.
The plane takes to the air as the CIA douchebag interrogates those
taken on board. One of the hooded men is dangled outside the plane and
questioned/threatened and when the CIA agent doesn’t get what he
wants, he fires his weapon (next to the hooded man’s ear, he is not
killed) and then begins to question the other hooded man. That hooded
man is unmasked and revealed to be… Bane!
CIA DOUCHE: Was it your plan all along to be captured?
Suddenly, a much larger plane overtakes the smaller plane occupied by
CIA Douche, Bane and hostages. Operatives from the larger plane
descend onto the smaller one–
Bane in all his Ventilator glory is revealed….CIA DOUCHE: If I take
this off, will you die?BANE: No. But I will be in a lot of pain.
BAM!
Operatives from the larger plane fire upon the interior of the plane
interrupting the interrogation.
The larger plane has ahold of the smaller one as it pulls it by wires
throwing all the passengers downward in a disorienting fashion.
After quickly overtaking the plane, Bane’s operatives bring in a man
with inside a body bag. This man is dead or looks barely alive. Bane
then takes the VIP political prisoner and inserts a tube and transfers
blood from the body bag man. (It’s confusing as to why this is
important.)
AND THEN… in a scene that no words will be able to do justice, a
hole is cut from the smaller plane and a wire takes Bane and the VIP
politico through the rear of the plane as the smaller plane is ripped
apart and is destroyed while members of Bane’s team sacrifice their
lives going down with the small plane. (Again, it should be stressed,
this description pales to what you will actually see, it’s a true
spectacle.)
The chant can be heard at the end… Deh-Shay! Bah-Sah-Ra!
The scene is followed by a montage that includes many images we’ve
seen, the most striking includes the Bat-copter chasing down fatigued
Batmobiles down the streets of Gotham, and a final shocking image of
Bane tossing away a shattered and torn Batman mask into rubble…
The only complaint about the 7 minute prologue was echoed by all in
attendace: Bane’s dialog is very difficult to understand. Imagine
Darth Vader with a very thick accent. Hopefully this will be fixed in
the final film.
Overall this opening scene is confusing, epic, and will leave
audiences speechless. All in a good way.

the first line there is the best. holy fuck.
WB Logo
spoilerish as hell!

I am weak i will read.

i see sherlock holmes is again latching on to the hype of another major release. first it was Avatar, now it's TDKR. It's as if the film itself is worthless.

operation early bird will hopefully be a game that will give you the trailer in some form.
gotta keep believing.

there's gotta be a batman trailer!

Didn't Avatar release around the same time? Dec 2009?

I really doubt trailer comes out next week. Earliest will be Monday after the opening weekend for Sherlock Holmes.

There were a lot of reports of people seeing Sherlock Holmes when Avatar screenings they'd planned to go to were sold out. Plus, there was increased business in cinemas all around thanks to Avatar.

Avatar selling out meant lots of people settled for Holmes.

And you are thinking WB positioned Holmes release (which was set a year prior) because they knew there would be Avatar spill over?

I also don't see the issue with them attaching the TDKR trailer to their biggest holiday release. This is done all the time. This isn't like putting the Star Wars Episode 1 trailer in front of Wing Commander.

You know what's fucked up? I actually saw that in theaters and didn't get the trailer

Err, I don't think an hour and a half drive to Chicago is worth batman/MI4.

Weird thing is, I just did this last week to see Shame, but eh....i'm torn on this.

I saw A Bug's Life specifically to see the Episode I trailer.

If you read the description for the joker prologue, it wasnt that epic either. But it was very well executed.

It's supposedly shot with innovative Inception-esque camera techniques.

It's literally like reading a description of Joseph Gordon Levitt running along a Hotel hallway as it rotates.

It doesn't nearly do the thing justice.

When I hear somebody say camera technique, the first thing that comes to mind is camera manipulation with it's hardware. Whence during filming in a real rotating room, the camera stood still glancing at an open wall.

Trailer today?

My body is not ready.

Sorry to disappoint but not only was it very unlikely to begin with, since WB is going to wait until its attached and released with Sherlock Holmes, but reputable sources (BOF) are not confirming trailer won't be released until next week.

Best guess for trailer #1 official online release is Monday Dec 19.

Bootleg IMAX prologue and trailer #1? By Wednesday next week probably.

The reveal today is most likely free screenings for prologue.

Ok.

My point is that it's not necessarily what happens on the screen but rather how it's executed.

What happened with those IMAX Prologue showings? What's the latest? I wanted to catch the one in Austin.

He could be talking about the zero gravity fight, not the rotating hallway.

I'm talking about both. If you read interviews with Wally Pfister (or check out the blu-ray special features), he talks about how bolting the camera down during the rotating sequences (as opposed to having it on a rig moving independently), as well as the "floating" movements used in the zero-g sections were deliberate techniques that were chosen to give each scene a unique visual feel. They were techniques. That's all I meant. I guess I misspoke by saying camera techniques instead of just "cinematography techniques".

...I don't know why anyone said anything, really. It's kind of a non-issue that took away from the poster's original post, which I was responding to.

Hype .__.

I almost immediately started to think they also made a new way to film besides IMAX camera. I'm sucker for new camera tech.
