Time to Bane Out

His jiggling is almost hypnotic

Also, a discovery I made in my BB rewatch: "Bruce, there's someone you just have to meet" lady does not just walk away. She walks away with "Rhas Al Ghul", presumably to blow him in the bathroom.

I'm sure he just called her a taxi.

In her mouth.

I actually thought that was the point. As in it was an intentional gag.

That's what I thought too. Either way, I like that scene.

For realz? Of course it was intended. It's a joke/callback to one of the previous Batman threads where some dummies thought it was a mistake that never got picked up. These movies certainly have those, like every movie does, but Joker/champagne isn't one of them. It's an acting decision made by Ledger, likely improv-ed.

Yeah. That's one of my favorite scenes in the movie.

If I were Bruce i'd probably feel like someone punched me in the stomach wearing an iron glove after hearing the guys name.

Yes, I agree. I'm just surprised that he thought it was a mistake.

Excited for when people ruin literally every fight scene ever when this air fighting thing goes south. Pretty soon, people will begin to complain, then the examples from other films they didn't complain about before start to crop up, and then what? Jackie Chan's retired, no pretty boy actor is getting punched in the face ever again you people need to realize that now before IT'S TOO LATE.

You can't prove that.

That entire scene is amazing.

Bruce "You're not Ra's al Ghul. I watched him die."
Ducard "But is Ra's al Ghul immortal?"

Look at the gif. He picks up the glass, intentionally throws his hand up to spill the contents out, then drinks from an empty glass. It's pure Joker kookiness, and intended.

I could just as easily say Heath picked up the glass with a bit too much force and the champagne spilled out, and he just went along with it.

Look, i don't want to get into this again, I'm just saying, as I always have, that it's a possibility.

Speaking of the same scene, it always bugged me how when they sing Happy Birthday it's completely out of sync.

I also noticed in the credits that while Bale is credited as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Liam Neeson is only credited as Ducard.

Also, you're kind of damned from the start when you have a scene with lots of extras. There will ALWAYS be somebody fuck it up. Look at the aforementioned no more dead cops scene. Look at Gladiator where there are guys laughing during the opening battle, etc. And TDKR has large scale outdoor fights in the daytime with boatloads of extras. Anyone really wanting to find the mistakes/lulz will be able to.

Guy wearing the beanie when Bane is looking for Batman will most assuredly fuck everything up.

It's not an improvisation, lol. Bruce threw out his champagne earlier, so it's a pretty obvious and intentional symmetry.

I dunno, it's pretty a goddamn unimportant and subtle parallel. I could see it easily just being a quirk Ledger built into the characterization.

Bruce pouring out the champagne has relevance and importance; Joker doing it does not.

"My name is merely Ducard.."

My 15 year old self heard that as "Miri Ducard". Thought his name was Miri until one of my friends quoted the line properly a couple of years later. True story.

I disagree. It shows that both want to maintain their control. I mean, of course the Joker has that chaotic nature, but he's still quite obviously in control of everything, and there's not really any place for alcohol when he's got some "master plan" going on.

Nah, I just think it's something Heath came up with that made him laugh.

I do really like Bruce pouring his out. To me it just solidified so succinctly what Rachel said at the end of BB about Bruce Wayne being Batman's mask. Batman has no time or use for a glass of champagne. Bruce essentially is so far gone that he can't even enjoy a glass of booze like a real human being anymore.

Also, how the fuck did Rachel and Batman survive that long ass drop from the building. He looks like he lands on his feet on top of the taxi.

The cape slows them down, you can hear the wind hitting the cape.

This is how it was written.

They DROP- Batman FIRES his grapple, SNAGGING Rachel's ankle- activates one wing of this cape- They SPIN and SLOW- Batman envelopes Rachel- they SLAM into the hood of a passing taxi.

I always thought the cape slowed them down enough for the car to break their fall.
That's the explanation from the shooting script I have. You can KIND of hear his cape tightening up to turn into the glider to help slow the fall. That and they just use comic book logic to say his armor helped cushion the fall for both of them.
