Terminator is dog crap compared to T2.

Terminator is Aliens-level typical 80s action scifi schlock, while T2 is just so much more.

T1 had great music though.

T1 had the better storyline and characters. Plus a much more palpable sense of atmosphere and dread.

I love the shit out of T2. I've never seen any movie more than I've seen T2. I can recite the movie line for line, but it's ultimately a beat for beat recycle of the first film done with much more finesse, but less of the heart.

T1 also has the best music and rendition of the Terminator theme - as good as Fiedel's work on T2 was.

Motherfucker even made the main theme work as a love theme! That shit is inspired!

Oh don't get me wrong, T1 is a great movie. T2 is just 1000% better, so I had to call that post out.

You're calling yourself out now.

I mean, my disdain for T2 basically boils down to one thing: I simply can't stand Edward Furlong in it at all. Whenever he's on screen, I can feel all the positives of the film getting sucked up by that little shit.

I have no problem with Furlong. T2 is pretty much perfect. The only flaw in the entire film is the T800 randomly deciding to yank the wheel of the swat van when he's on a straight highway with no other vehicle around him. - causing them to topple and giving the T1000 a chance to catch up.

Jumping in here.

T2>>>>>>>>T1

If you're looking for straight horror, then T1 I guess. But T2 is one of the greatest action films ever, and dabbles in everything else competently as well.

T2 is definitely not one of the greatest action films ever. It is the greatest action film ever.

Yet with that said, T1 still just edges it out for me in terms of which film I look upon more fondly. T2 is definitely more rewatchable.

I kind of love T3, too, for two reasons: 1) the remarkably dark ending, which is one of the few times I can think of that has made the protagonists' struggles to prevent the end of the world utterly pointless, and 2) the literal deus ex machina that is the nuclear reactor inside a T800. I know that's a big negative for basically everyone else, but it's so delightfully preposterous that I just love it.

I can see what you see in it, but it's just too much a product of its time for me. T2 is a classic, and with few exceptions, hasn't aged nearly as poorly to me.

Plus I'm more of an action/hopeful ending kind of guy over horror/bleak ending, so that also helps.

T2 is fuckin' fan fiction compared to the concise and sinister and mysterious first movie. T2 is a fun action movie but when I watch the first one, the story ends there and my imagination fills in the blanks about Skynet, the future, John Connor's legend, etc. There's something so starkly scary about an unstoppable, uncaring juggernaut from the unknown coming to kill you and something so god damn dumb about a superawesometransforming cyborg vs some kid's pet T800.

Lionel's gifs are my favorite part of this thread.

He's a silent observer. A watchful poster. The GIF Knight.

KING of the thread as far as I'm concerned.

Lionel is the true KOG.

KING OF GIFS

I'm rewatching Batman Forever because of this man. Amazing.

Riddler/Two Face is passé, Lionel. PASSÉ

Did you know that Burton originally envisioned the Riddler for the third movie as a psychopath who shaved a question mark on his head and he would be played by Robin Williams?

That's what I read anyway.

If memory serves correctly, that's another scene where Dent just keeps flipping the coin till he gets the result he wants.

Terrible, just terrible.

Sounds reasonable, because I know Robin Williams has got shafted out of virtually every Batman film ever, lol.

That would of been a much better movie. I kinda wished Burton would of finished his trilogy. Not because they were great, but they are infinitely better than the two films that followed.

This thread moves fast during the night, I live nocturnally but 5am is the limit for me. I guess most people here live on the other side of the world.

Also changed my avatar to something little bit more over the top and epic.

Edit: I think I might watch Batman Forever again looking at all these gifs, damn you lionel.

I have my tickets for the IMAX trilogy marathon on July 19th, have Friday the 20th scheduled off from work... all I need is an Iron Man costume to wear to the event.

8198 posts? Yikes!

After watching Insomnia and One Hour Photo, I think he would have been perfect. Subdued Robin Williams better than Wacked out Robin Williams. I just don't think Burton could pull it off without making the Riddler into some arthouse reject from a goth's dream.
