Remember the last time a third movie in a superhero series was good?

Me neither

then again, before Nolan I can't remember the last time a live-action Batman was good, soooooo...

There have been reasons for why other third superhero movies have been. So far, there's no reason why TDKR should fall to the same curse. Same director, same writers, same cast, seemingly no studio interference, Nolan being allowed to tell the story he wants to tell with the characters he wants to use, etc.

Spiderman - studio interference
Batman - different director/cast
Superman - different director

Iron Man 3 will be great BECAUSE of the director change I'm betting. And Batman 3 seems like it went smoothly with Nolan doing what he wanted.

How many superhero movie franchise reach the third movie to begin with?

We have Superman.
Iron Man is getting there.
...

X-Men
Blade
The Punisher(if you count 2 different attempts to reboot it)

Although Blade and Punisher fall into comic book movies, not super hero.

Good input.

I see what he's going for but I don't agree with him. Meh. Plus those face charactures are terrible.

And the King of Games says you're welcome.

It is funny though that Marlon Wayans got paid in full and never even got to be on set for Batman Returns.

I'm kicking myself for not picking up a TDKR Bane poster at K-mart today.

Not many third movies are good in general. Godfather Part 3, Pirates 3, the third Matrix.

Billy D got paid for Returns or Forever?

Oh you mean the original.

Yeah he was a great Harvey Dent, even though he didn't do much.

He got paid for Forever. A lot. He knew Dent would become Two-Face so he got it in his contract for '89's Batman that he'd have some sort of say in playing him in future films. WB had to pay him a ton of money to get out of that deal to use Tommy Lee Jones.

Billy Dee as Two-Face would have been great.

Yeah but did Marlon Wayans get paid more for never being Robin

Yeah he would've been great.

AH well.

Hmm, I wonder how Mel Gibson as Two Face would've been like.

that's just asking to be in a fan poster

I feel like such a dork for wanting to pick up a Batman and Bane action figure and The Bat or the Batpod.

I couldn't walk to the counter with them with a straight face XD

I saw those chibi batman and banes at target. Totally wanted to get one.

How so? A intense burn wound wouldn't look like that just hours after the incident.
It would be swollen for days.

We need something between that and this.
This is just stupid impossible.
Like someone BBQ'd his face but it all the muscles work.

Here's Nolan's quote.

http://www.craveonline.com/film/interviews/151430-director-christopher-nolan-on-the-dark-knight

Crave Online: But what happens to Harvey Dent is so grotesque, was that image a problem?

Christopher Nolan: No. Everybody involved really, I think, understood the fanciful tone of the extremity of it. When we looked at less extreme versions of it they were too real and more horrifying. There's something, whether you're looking at a film like Pirates of the Caribbean or whatever, about a very fanciful, very detailed visual effect that I think is more palatable to an audience and is less repulsive and more fascinating. It's certainly morbidly fascinating, but it's clearly unreal. I think the visual effects are very well done and the guys involved did a terrific job, but the design of it is clearly fanciful.

Look, if we're going to nitpick about the realism of the Two-Face, he shouldn't have even been able to talk so clearly either.

There's a million things you could point out.

Not sure where to put this or if it's worth posting, but I was reading this article http://www.awardscircuit.com/2012/07/02/the-highlights-and-lowlights-of-2012-thus-far/, and there may or may not be a hint at the writers' TDKR review.

He says "The only 4 star review I’ve published so far (hint…there’s one coming later this month)..." and then says he's planning on writing a best comic book movie of all time article "after the release of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ later this month." So I thought that was kind of interesting. Or maybe I'm just thinking way too much about TDKR and am trying to relate everything back to it.

Sounds promising lol
