THAT'S the scene that's suppose to establish his dark side!? Goddamn, that's weak as hell. I really wish they had shown more of his supposed "huge dark side" to make his turn into Crazy McEvilness more believable.

And where the hell was the conflict with the coin? The internal strife of his two personas? Ya know, the Two-Face shit? Instead, he's just a fun visual with a gimmick. He flips a coin that decides if he kills people or not. And if doesn't work the first time, he'll just do it again. Great.

Oh please, don't give me that "Well, he wasn't in his right mind, he's crazy now" shit to explain contrived story decisions. From that logic, he could have ran around in clown make-up and joined Joker's gang for a laugh. He's CRAZY and EMOTIONALLY VULNERABLE. Dude is a damn District Attorney and doesn't even attempt to call Joker out on his bullshit, sitting there looking mad.

God, what a fuckin' huge missed opportunity that was. The biggest disappointment in the Nolan Batman series so far.

That scene was only there to hint at him maybe not being the white knight batman thought he was. It was Rachel being murdered while he was forced to listen, and his face subsequently getting burned off, that broke him mentally. If you cannot see how that might make anyone lose their shit, then, well, I dont know if debating this with you will get anywhere. The story decisions were not contrived. It was a very deliberately set up story arc.

It's a lazy, rushed story arc in an otherwise fantastic film, but he's dead now so all I can do is move on and hope Nolan actually sticks the landing with TDKR. Third time's the charm, right?

I never said he was crazy, he was vulnerable and Joker knew this and went in to finish the job. Joker's point was proven, Harvey could not handle shit going wrong and all of his morals and code went out the window.

So how much does Cameron suck compared to Nolan? I'd say thiiiiiiiiiiiiis much. *arms wide*

Hey Sculli, wake up.

But hey, at least it wasn't as bad as Avatar, am I right, fellas? I can't believe the same dude who wrote The Terminator wrote dat shit. Nobody on the staff had the balls to say nothing though, knowing Cameron would smash them with his billion-dollar box office brass balls.

I have a feeling you will be extremely disappointed. Nolan introduced a character and gave him the films best story arc, culminating in a great ending for the character and the film. Dent's arc was so tied into the film/ending, I have a hard time seeing how one can think the film is fantastic, but hate that part.

Now we can agree on something. Avatar was such a mediocre film. It wasnt even that bad, but just painfully mediocre in every way except for the blue squirrels.

Honestly though, James Cameron is the shit and I'm still waiting on The Abyss/True Lies on Blu-Ray so my collection will be complete. I just wish he didn't waste so many years of his life doing these mediocre Avatar films when he could be doing Battle Angel or something cool.

And Titanic winning Best Picture over LA Confidential and Good Will Hunting? I'll never forgive you, Academy.

Anything other than Titanic winning would have been a sham.

Titanic winning was the whole of Hollywood groveling at Cameron's feet in forgiveness.

That's why Nolan is going to make a 3 hour epic about a black Nazi who grew up in Alabama during the civil rights movement and comes out of the closet.

Also, it's a musical silent film.

Titanic winning over GWH was stupid. At least when Scorsese won his "I'm sorry" Oscar, it wasn't with his worst film.

You don't think Cameron wishes every day that his worst film wasn't better than Good Will Hunting? Why do you think the guy went away for twelve years? He's trying to give everybody the best chance they can get. Nobody will take it, though.

Titanic was an insurmountable feat that put to shame everything else made that year. Nothing else even began to compare. Even if its his worst film, its still an achievement that no other filmmaker could ever match. aka, his worst is still better than the rest.

Man, the Academy were just so obvious with the Bigelow shit. All the female actors came out for the nominees and pretended they didn't know what was going on. Cameron probably bit some poor crew member's head off afterwards.

He can take solace in the fact that he wrote Bigelow's two best films.

It still wasnt a better film than Good Will Hunting. Just because it was a big scale movie with a bunch of technical achievements, doesn't mean it should win. It was flat out an average film. Also, you seem to be a Jim fanboy, its hard to argue sensibly against those "special" people.

pulling out the fanboy card? With that avatar? In this thread?

laugh.

Yes, if you honestly think titanic was that great, and no other director could come close, then it makes sense. But yes, judge me on my avatar, and the thread I am in. Deflect more son. I havnt said anything besides titanic wasnt great and it did not deserve that oscar. But yes, "I" am the fanboy...jesus fucking christ :lol

I'm not the one making mentally unsound claims such as Aliens being a shit movie

Did I call it a shitty film? I remember saying it was a shitty follow up. Because it was not another Alien movie, it was a good action flick with Alien as a backdrop. It did nothing with the mythos set up by Ridley and was disappointing in that regard. Also, hyperbole, how does that work on the internets But yes, insult my mental state as an argument. This thread keeps on delivering. Laugh.

lol what.

The Alien universe would not have endured the way it has were it not for Aliens.

You're saying we would have never had Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Alien vs Predator, Alien vs Predator 2, or Prometheus if we never got Aliens?

Where do I get my time machine?

I'm saying that when you bring up Alien, by and large, people don't remember the crew of the Nostromo. They remember the colonial marines.

Endured? It was hilariously bad after Aliens. Alien was a superior film to Aliens. Aliens might as well been another generic action flick.

Exactly. If Aliens birthed everything afterwards, I can safely say we could do without it.

Oh no, people remember the dumb action movie more than the original. I guess the things that are popular are always the best right? ABAHDAR!!!
