Somebody needs to make a gif of Bruce and Alfred trying to move aside the log that fell on him, but replace Alfred's face with the Spider-Man butler.

Then the gif just ends with the shot of Bruce looking at Alfred with that weird look.

Usually I would be with you but that is from the latest trailer, the Nokia one. I think.

Still people are assuming just with the thread title that this is a SPOILERS thread, when in reality its just the HYPE thread where people are being careful by tagging spoilers. I still don't get why or how that is a hard concept for people to grasp or abide by.
 
In my screening of Snow White and the Huntsman, the trailer for Spider-Man played, which everybody talked through. As soon as TDKR trailer (3) came up, the whole cinema went dead silent.

That's how it's been for me whenever I've seen movies and the Rises trailer has played. Everyone talks through and/or laughs through a trailer, but once the Rises trailer starts, silence.

A line of dialogue can reveal whole themes/directions of the movie, because that's how characters talk in Nolan movies. In platitudes.

I think basically the assumption here is that - with a month to go - any new footage posted should be spoilered.

That's fine. I can get why some people want that. And it isn't a hard thing to comply with.

Okay, so trailers/commercials released in the 30 day window are off limits but anything officially released before that is fair game. Sounds ridiculous. The same people bitching about single lines of dialogue from this new trailer are the same people who have been in here all year "analyzing" everything WB puts out.

I read this thread shaking my head because while I don't post anything that could be considered a spoiler (unless people want to cry over music cues) I am not sensitive to stuff that is released for wide consumption. When someone posts a wall of text spoiling the plot I'll know it's time to "bail out".

lol, this is insanity. If you want to go on a media blackout for a movie, then you should be avoiding discussion threads about said moie. Having to tag officially released material like trailers, commercials, and words from Nolan himself as spoilers is ridiculous. Things leaked ahead of time or info coming from unofficial sources? THOSE are spoilers. But anything with WB's name on it should be fair game.
 
Mark my words. The plot ending for this film will be ruined around a week prior to release.

Somebody posted that Rachel died in TDK on a random youtube vid days before it released. The video wasn't even relevant to Batman either wtf.

Shit, don't shoot the messenger. I've spoiled myself thoroughly on this. There's tons of shit I'd like to talk about but won't out of respect for people here. That's the way it works.
 
The funny thing is that the trailer doesn't even have any spoilers like say the Prometheus stuff that started getting ridiculous. If you think new lines or shots are spoilers at this point, then you should just go on an internet blackout because WB is going to flood everything with TDKR from here on out.

Then draw a line in the sand for people just randomly posting spoilers like "Oh, you guys are talking about Gordon? Well this is what happens to him *spoilers*", not when people want to talk about, post stills or gifs from an officially released trailer that had material that was ok'd by the director.
 
People being spoiled in this thread....brought it on themselves. Including me.

Outside of GAF though, it's a scary place. So I'm just gonna be super cautious near release haha.

If someone is dumb enough to outright post plot spoilers without tags I'm sure they will be made aware of it real quick. Especially with how many itchy trigger fingers we have here. It's unfortunate when someone does it but it's not something new. That's what happens in forums.

I had the same thing happen when I went to Avengers. I don't know if it was the tone of the trailer or more interest in the franchise. Either way it was something.

Yeah. Same happened with the Skyfall trailer in another showing I went to.

If anything can shut up audiences, it's Batman and Bond.

Not all one-liners are platitudes. That line isn't meaningless, banal, or unoriginal if it expands upon one of the film's most prominent themes (escalation).

Actually, never mind. I did a quick search, and it seems like that line didn't originate with The Dark Knight. News to me. Still, if it's used meaningfully, it's not necessarily a platitude.

Yeah, I was spoiled on that from YouTube too. Fucking YouTube. Those commentators are the worst. I'm just not looking at any comments for any videos for the next 30 days.
 
Great, looks like I won't be able to watch it in IMAX until the 25th. I think I might have to go to an ordinary cinema if I want to see it on day of release. A film this big it's pretty much garaunteed I'll get spoiled big time if I don't watch it day 1.

It's thematic, granted, but I don't think it's very original or deep.

I'm not trying to use the word pejoratively, though it is often used that way; I like these movies and Nolan/Goyer-isms. It's just that his dialogues have a way of announcing character intentions/motivations via well-worn statements.

"Why do we fall?"
"The night is darkest..."
"Your anger could destroy you."
"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

Oh, I thought you were knocking it. I understand the context now. You're perfectly right about Nolan's writing. He often bypasses subtlety in lieu of poetic-sounding one-liners. I dig it too, but you're right..it makes it very easy for a single line of dialogue to spoil a big part of the movie.

Sorry, I probably should have used a different word and been more precise, but I'm just trying to say that - given how Nolan's characters speak using metaphors and lines that spell out their motivations (die a hero) - Bruce saying
"I'm not afraid, I'm angry"
in a trailer probably says a lot more about where he is coming from and where he is going than one might think.

anyone else feel like Nolan gave up the whole realism angle this time around?

the trailers just emphasize action and stuff blowing up, along with over the top fight sequences(cops vs thugs brawl).
