...for all those fey-pop fans, i have heard some of the new album.

from what i have heard, more pop and less stream of consciousness mumbling by colin.

in the vein of "billy liar" or "LA i'm yours."

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
The Tain seemed like a detour from what they usually do. I'm trying to find this, but no luck...

smirkrevenge, what songs were you able to find? I can't get shit with any of my p2p's.

haven't had time to listen to the whole album in one sitting yet...but i remember shuddering at the track "espionage."

eek...all the indie kids will keel over on this one.

I'll keel over all over you!

I'm pretty much done d/l'ing stuff or getting advances, so I'll have to wait for release. :(

If you guys can, catch them live, they're amazing.

I wish I were. I won't do it for SFA, though.

I've ruined too many things already.

I heard a few new songs over the summer when I saw the band down in Portland at an AIDS Benefit show, good stuff.

I've yet to hear the studio material however... hint hint....

Just got this last night. Really cool. This is the first of the band I've heard, though. Grabbed portions of various albums, and really liked when I heard. Plus, the lead singer has my name.

Not as good as their previous stuff. I was let down. It's still good; I just thought they were building up to some big, career-defining album after the ambition found in The Tain.

I've had Her Majesty and the Tain downloaded forever but never listened to them more than twice. Picaresque is the first time I've actually given them a fair listen, and what a great album. Gives me a total Neutral Milk Hotel vibe, which is definatly a good thing.

It's "Leslie Anne Levine."

I think that all three of their full lengths are pretty much equal, I was one of my only friend who wasn't let down. I was sad it wasn't picking up where The Tain (by far my favorite thing they've done) left off, but there's some awesome tracks on here. "The Sporting Life," "The Mariner's Revenge Song," and "Sixteen Military Wives" are among their best songs.

If you're looking for random songs, I'd also HIGHLY recommend "A Cautionary Song." I love the shit out of it.

I'm checking out the new shit. Liking it so far, but I'm drunk and will like anything.

On another note, does no one love The Bachelor and the Bride!? -- That's the song that got me hooked on tha band in the first place.

Got it.

"The Mariner's Revenge Song" is already my song of 2005. SO FUCKING GOOD.

Don't know what to think of the rest of the album, have to listen some more.

I've listened it through a few times now.

I'm inclined to believe this is their best one yet. Well see how it holds up after 3 months, but I think it's better than their previous 2 efforts as of right now.

Incredible.
