The Division Beta Thread: Make Manhattan Great Again

Hey guys, can you help me here? I'm playing on PC but the resolution is off, I have a 1920x1080 monitor but the image display is way bigger, like, I can only see the superior left quadrant of the game. Is there a way of manually changing this from outside the game? Modifying a ini file maybe?

Did I just screw up and give my loot to someone? I went to an extraction zone and somebody started it. We chatted and I attached my loot to their helicopter. It said I extracted the loot but I don't have it.

Beta to Beta... i could also do Alpha to Alpha as i was part of both... Let's first start with enemy variety. I dont even have to mention the number of different races and creatures... models, strategies, weakpoints, enemy weapons, enemy vehicles... the amount of map variety... special public events... elemental damages... elemental resources... a resource based upgrade system... a vehicle... amount and variety of weapons... player customization... player movement augmentation... player special abilities of much greater impact... and simple game and gunplay. The degree to which your point of aim and overall tactics impact your effectiveness against a given enemy type in Destiny... well, that's light years ahead of what it is in the Division. Alpha... Beta... whatever.

Why are you typing like this?

I got properly into the Beta just now...I can see it being an interesting game.

It is loot and RPG first and very much a shooter a distant third or fourth...it helped a lot when I found a blue semi-automatic gun with a good zoom and good headshot damage.

It felt more like shooting someone and less like waving my d**k around whilst numbers magically appeared on an enemy and then they fall over camply. I just wish the enemies had a proper stagger/knock back animation so that they look like they're being shot.

I could feel the call to get better guns and armour, plus the "neatness" of having a blue gun with all blue upgrades (or orange in the main game).

Some interesting little side missions and collectables (but 800 hour interesting? hmmm).

It shows a lot of promise...but I feel people will be playing for the social experience, the loot, and bigger numbers rather than for the core gameplay.

This happened to me, I think the game defaults to highest DSR setting but in a window so it 4k windowed. Try alt+enter and then you should be able to change settings from there after the videos.

Also:
Destiny Beta had a level cap of 8
Division Beta had a level cap of 8
This can only mean one thing
Westwood Studios is working on Halo Wars 3

I was up playing this on X1 last night way too long.

Had an intense 1v1 in the dark zone last night during an extraction in which I was 6/6 in contaminated gear.

A rogue agent popped in extraction. My bags being full I ran to the extraction zone with roughly 45 sec remaining. As I approach I Pulse to get the lay of the land (this particular point spawns some nasty NPCs at times) and there he is. I've approached from the high ground, and he's down a level at behind some containers.

He opens up somewhat successfully damaging me enough that I have to pop a medkit and my heal. I swap to my trusty blue RPK and start laying down the lead. Suppressed him. He's taking significant damage now. He heals, and returns fire with a sticky bomb damaging me and knocking me right out of cover.

At this point, we've been exchanging fire and flanking one another for 2 minutes. I'm out of heals. I'm out of nades. I make a decision to high tail it for a ladder and scurry to the street below. He follows and this time he has height advantage.

I find a vehicle to take cover behind and he makes his move. As he's going for cover I open up with my last RPK clip. Suppressed. He's switched from an assault rifle to a smg likely due to ammo being exhausted.

I pull out the shotty and make a dash for his suppressed ass. He takes wild shots, inaccurate due to the suppression I'm gathering.

2 shots, he's done.

3 minutes of pure fun.

Been playing mostly DZ and really liking it! I mostly played solo but had an hour with a friend and it was much better but it felt like there should be more thugs to kill.

For any idiots like me, here's a tip. Your extracted gear won't show up in your inventory - you need to go to a base camp where it will be in your Stash box.

OT title: Yippee ki-yay, Motherfucker.

Only cos it's Xmas in New York and that makes me think of my favourite NY Cop, John McClane, the main dude in my favourite Xmas movie :D

Only played for an hour before work so I mostly browsed menus but I was thinking about the crafting a bit.

I'm wondering if the crafting will be deep or bloated. There is definitely a fine line but with 30+ different crafting materials, there's the risk of it being annoying and overblown.

Like I said though, it's a fine line. Too simplistic sucks. Too complex also sucks.

I wish crafting was in the beta!

Lol now my text is in spanish I def cant read that lol...

I could read german lol.

Can someone tell me how I can change it to english?
Go to language, there should be three options. Change them all to English.

I'm interested to hear if it looks even remotely like that. Guessing not, but maybe?
Didnt take any screens, but some things in the current Beta look the same in this location. Most of the free space is gated off so you cant mimic the same scenario. As someone also noted the entrance is now through the little doorway. Honestly I'd take that 2014 footage over this one.

Darzk zone is a different game when you're in a squad of 4.
Im rocking around with a squad of 10, we worked out its extremely easy to abuse the darkzone with the friendlist to the point a couple of us are rocking high-end weapons already. You literally just destroy people by abusing the system meant to maintain balance, party limit? Fuck the party limit! Welcome to the darkzone baby, hahaha.

No Im not kidding this works, just dont shoot anyone not in your immediate squad and you can link parties of your friends together to form super groups, once everyone has six contaminated loot you extracted it while holding everyone at bay (with ease). Have a couple groups coming at you? No problem, grenade the shit outta them and laugh at their misery.

This shouldnt be a thing but is...

Didn't come across any campers in DZ last night on Xbox. I'm about to go into the DZ now on PS. Want to earn enough to get them gold guns with like 3200 dmg.

This game is so far below my expectations it's unreal and I didn't have high expectations to begin with.

First of all, my God, it looks like ass. The player character renders are soooooooo much higher quality then literally everything else on screen it's incredibly distracting. Couple that with the constant recycled textures (lmfao at the copy paste repeat clutter strewn about and the somehow immaculate graffiti), a very noticeable lack of wear and dirt where you would expect to see it and bizzare world lighting/shading and you get this weird toy box looking aesthetic that goes against everything the game tries to set itself up as.

The there's the matter of there being more HUD elements on my screen than there are bullets in my clip. Why? Half this shit isn't necessary. At all. I don't understand why devs think overwhelming amounts of HUD elements is good or attractive design. It's not. It straight up breaks immersion at every turn. I can't stand that shit.

Also, holy shit at these bullet sponges. This is do far beyond Destiny. How am I gonna shoot somebody with a shotgun 5x point blank only to see them drop a grenade and peace out like nothing even happened.

Then there's the voice acting. I want to punch that radio dude in his pompous face. But at least he comes off as human which is more than I can say for pretty much every other piece of voice acting I've heard in the game so far.

I've never been so baffled by a games design decisions in my life. So far this shit is the opposite of fun for me. Thank God I didn't have to preorder to get my beta key. I've never been more confused on what the hell is going on in a game and that's despite umpteen things popping up to tell me what to do and where to go.

Looking in here people are actually enjoying this beta? I just can't fathom it. Maybe I'm just that sick of open world BS. But hey more power to y'all but this is just not for me. I just... wow I did not expect to see positive reactions at all.

I'm loving the game so far. Looks and plays great. I just hope the actual product has plenty of content and doesn't feel like Destiny at launch.

I played for about an hour and a half this morning on PC. I set the frame rate limiter to 30 (I know...I know...the horror) so I could put the graphics at the highest and see how the performance was. Only type of problem I had with that was when everything was loading up so it stuttered for a second. After that I haven't had any problems with stuttering or frames dropping. I did have a visual glitch where an NPC disappeared while talking then came back silent and some lootable stuff never shows up but I expected some wonky behavior like that. I think the game looks great and you can't really go too far without having something to do whether it's looting stuff, collectibles, helping civilians, stopping some rioters, encounters, etc.

As far as the actual gameplay I really, really liked what I played. The time it took to kill enemies wasn't anywhere near what people had been complaining about (I assume it's because they had tuned things more since people played the Alpha). I did die once to a special named enemy (Five-0) who wrecked me. I went back and took care of him right after that. I didn't do any of the main mission yet. I have only done the side activities. Tons of cosmetic stuff around to find or drop and even got a Blue armor piece. I went inside a contaminated building (that was filled with stuff to search) and did an encounter to get virus info and send it to be studied. I like that you know when you're in one of those places because of the sounds of the Geiger counter (?) and visual cues (also you put your mask on in those places).

This is probably the most I've ever written about a game on here...lol

HUD can be turned off. Only the bosses are bullet spongy, but it makes perfect sense to me for the type of game it is. The voice acting is kinda annoying, but doesn't ruin it for me by any means.

The world is fun to explore because of loot strewn about and random encounters/quests that pop up. I think it looks pretty damn good for what it is, keep in mind the scale and again the type of game it is; a loot rpg, not a straightforward action game like Uncharted. I'm kinda baffled at you being baffled. I really enjoy it.

It seams that the game did not like my hotas, funniest thing was that on restart my right and left mouse button was not working at all lol

What the hell, i removed the hotas, restarted the game, my mouse only works for pointing, left and right mouse button does not register, even after putting all controls to defaults, what the fuck ?
