you can farm DZ xp and points off the npcs in there and out of chests and you can spend the points on blue armor/items on the vendor outside.

Are the chests just strewn about like in normal zones, and are they random? Do I need anything to open them?

Did someone just compare this game negatively to destiny by pointing out how bullet spongey this game is? Did I read that correctly?

I have never, in almost 30 years of taking, played a more bullet spongey game than Destiny. I'm sure they exist but I haven't played them.

thats also part of the appear of the game, as it was with destiny.

You're not too old. But you're doing this thing where you whittle something down to its basics in order to make it sounds terrible. At the same time comparing it to a space /Sci fi game and wondering why the title that's trying to be more "real" isn't as flashy as the other.

It's a generic shtick you're pullING considering this is a far cry from destiny.

I'm not really trying to make it sound like anything, just offering my reaction.

It's an RPG that's supposed to be sorta ongoing, like Destiny, right? It's a game with an MMO slant?

How do you maintain interest in a game with an MMO slant where all the badguys seem to just be dudes with guns? You need variety in a game of this genre. That's why I invoked Destiny.

It just lacks excitement. Maybe it's more fun later or with friends. Most fun I've had so far with it was shooting holes in a tarp and shooting shop signs.

This game is so far below my expectations it's unreal and I didn't have high expectations to begin with.

First of all, my God, it looks like ass. The player character renders are soooooooo much higher quality then literally everything else on screen it's incredibly distracting. Couple that with the constant recycled textures (lmfao at the copy paste repeat clutter strewn about and the somehow immaculate graffiti), a very noticeable lack of wear and dirt where you would expect to see it and bizzare world lighting/shading and you get this weird toy box looking aesthetic that goes against everything the game tries to set itself up as.

The there's the matter of there being more HUD elements on my screen than there are bullets in my clip. Why? Half this shit isn't necessary. At all. I don't understand why devs think overwhelming amounts of HUD elements is good or attractive design. It's not. It straight up breaks immersion at every turn. I can't stand that shit.

Also, holy shit at these bullet sponges. This is do far beyond Destiny. How am I gonna shoot somebody with a shotgun 5x point blank only to see them drop a grenade and peace out like nothing even happened.

Then there's the voice acting. I want to punch that radio dude in his pompous face. But at least he comes off as human which is more than I can say for pretty much every other piece of voice acting I've heard in the game so far.

I've never been so baffled by a games design decisions in my life. So far this shit is the opposite of fun for me. Thank God I didn't have to preorder to get my beta key. I've never been more confused on what the hell is going on in a game and that's despite umpteen things popping up to tell me what to do and where to go.

Looking in here people are actually enjoying this beta? I just can't fathom it. Maybe I'm just that sick of open world BS. But hey more power to y'all but this is just not for me. I just... wow I did not expect to see positive reactions at all.

This guy is probably at home lit as fuck cause everyone else is loving the game. Lol.

Bye Felicia!

So I'm gonna say this after I have basically seen the whole beta of The Division:

The basic gameplay is fun. They have build a solid third person shooter that incorporates a lot of RPG elements. I also think the idea of the Dark Zone is very fun. I enjoy the risk and reward feeling I get out of it. The potential downfalls I can see for the full game are variety and amount of content. I don't think fighting generic thugs over who knows how many hours would be interesting. I also don't know if just New York is interesting enough of a setting. Most of the streets just feel samey. Content is a concern because I have heard the full game has like 15 story missions and the only one that is in this beta is not that great or long. We also get a glimpse at the side content and most of it is just encounters, which is killing some fools and getting a little bit of loot out of that. There is one side mission and that one was just straight up bad. Had you go to mission markers to find echoes of this one person until you find her. That was it, basically just wandering around the city, following her uninteresting story. So yeah, while I enjoyed the basic pieces of it, I am definitely waiting for reviews to see how the whole thing shakes out.

Edit: I know this is basically a repeat from the GB thread, but I guess this is where it actually belongs.

Walking down the street by myself and a 5 deep team rolls up behind me. I had no chance.

I'm about to say fuck the dark zone.

lol. I actually like this. I like the tension and the fact you have something to lose. That said there is next to no reason a group of 5 shouldn't gank you, especially if you have something. J/s.

First get to level 8. In your menu there is a group or party option. In there you can party up and specifically matchmake for the Dark Zone.

This is very important. Before you even think about going into the DZ make sure you have at least 1 other person with you. The matchmaking options they present you with make finding a group very easy, but they don't unlock until you reach level 8.

Anybody on PC had the game hard crash on them? Like HARD crash to the point your entire computer crashed (black screen) and you had to restart?
This has happened three times now, once when starting up after tweaking the graphics slightly to get a perfect 60+ fps, once within 5 minutes of loading into the game and again after about 30 minutes of play. Temps aren't high, ~60 for both CPU and GPU. CPU usage was pretty high at 75+% but that's about in line with R6 Siege and I've been able to put several hours at a time into that without issue. I've never had this happen and I game all the time on this thing.
Specs:
i5 4690k @4.0Ghz
GTX 970
16GB Ram
Needless to say, I will not be trying again after this. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I have nearly exactly the same setup as you do but half the RAM. I haven't had it crash yet. In fact, it's running better than I would have expected at 3440x1440. I haven't checked it with FRAPS, but haven't had any frame rate issues yet.

Did you just walk around and run PVE side missions until you hit level 8? Is there enough out there?

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
This game badly needs a commands wheel with "I'm friendly, don't shoot!" or "Invite me" etc.

Quick question;

Let's say you get gunned down in the dark zone, what exactly do you lose? Only items you've picked up in the dark zone or are you at risk to lose other gear as well?

They really need to fix the ability to constantly run with no stop in the dark zone. Roll spamming too. It's really bad.

There are different enemy factions in the game. So how much that changes things up, who knows.

Played the PC beta for about an hour before I uninstalled it. Just running around this 'Dark Zone' looking for something to do and shooting people and then getting gang shot at is pretty boring. Cancelled my pre-order and will not be picking this up.

It seemed to run totally fine for me too, and I had lower settings (1080p, slightly lower than high settings). I'm baffled by this, to say the least. Thanks for replying though. Maybe someone will come along with a similar problem.

Damn....just damn....never had a game won me over like this. I was literally hoping that this would be a mess because of the downgrade and all....but after playing the beta for over 3h with my cousin I don't have anything to say against this game. The visuals on my PC with everything maxed out are incredible, especially when you get that morning sun in the distance with all the beautiful reflections, and oh boy, don't get me started on that volumetric fog, freaking beautiful.

I think that this game can only be played with a friend, because it's so much fun just to chat around looking for some loot, or deciding if we're gonna drop another agent in the dz and take his loot. Amazing. Only sad thing is....I'm not gonna buy this game....My cousin is saving up money for college and he refuses to spend a dime on new games, and I don't want to play this without him, but oh well, at least we got another two days to play the beta :D Good work Massive!

If you were alone in the dark zone then that's why you got gang shot. Go with a group and you'll have a better time.

MMO pvp rules

Don't go into pvp if you got shit gear same applies here guys

Runs dungeons to get better gear
Same rerun the hospital at lvl 8 to get lvl 8 blue gear

Once you feel geared then go into DZ and wreck people

Team up , camp Hudson will matchmake for DZ

Will wait before purchasing, actually finding it pretty fun.

So far game seems really unoptimized, which is my biggest complaint. Have to see how the final product is optimization wise.

SLI 980's/4790k @ 4.7, 1440p should be getting more than 50-60 fps maxed with some settings turned down a notch

This has to be a first. I've seen divisive games, but opinions covering the full spectrum ?

Don't even need to do that. You can matchmake right from your pause menu.

I preordered the PS4 version assuming the usual 1080p/900p and will be playing that on beta but I may switch to XO before release...

looking forward to it.

Bye Felicia!

Loving it because it is the new thing. I've learned to take negative reviews into consideration in threads that just brim hype and love.

Like that one guy that talked shit about The Phantom Menace on release and got crucified.
He was right. lol.

I'll buy in a month if wom is good. Most of these early impressions are baseless for a game with heavy MMO focus.

I'm already seeing a trend in the negatives that point to an experience that may not be worth an early buy in.

I'm loving the game so far.

Just put a couple of hours in on the PC version. I'm having a lot of fun and it runs very well. I'm downsampling it from 3k on my 980ti with everything maxed out and it's gorgeous. One of the best looking games out there.

Haters be damned. I can see myself playing this game for a very long time. Will check out the ps4 version tomorrow to see how it holds up visually.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like

That's because everyone has set up their own sort of expectations when THE only right way to do things was not having a graphical expectation at all outside the fact that it should look better than a last Generation game.PC players in general are harder to impress due to them having acess to games that looked way better in the past.

Are you sure you get level 8 blue gear at the hospital when you rerun it? I was going to do that, but it wouldn't let me change the difficulty or level and said the reward was green weapon, so I just didn't do it.

Despite the obvious graphical downgrade (especially with the absence of Global Illumination), I must say this game has met and exceeded my expectations gameplay-wise. I really hyped it up in my mind, so I was worried it would be a let down, but am pleasantly surprised. The game is full of detail, it feels alive even with the population dying of a virus and the streets pretty much empty. I'm excited to see what other content there is, the end-game content, and lastly I'm hoping we get to go to central park (which I assume will come with DLC).

I'm also hoping for the most important part, optimizations. The game has some wild fps drops, it really needs some patches/better gpu drivers. I'm hoping by March 8th it will be a bit more stable.

Really? This is one of the most surprisingly stable and optimized games for the PC right now. Don't think I was below 60fps at any point during my 5ish hours of play. What are your specs?
