The drugs don't work anymore. :(

Anyone know if the effects of St. John's Wort wear off after a time? I started taking it in February and noticed an effect after about 2-3 weeks. However, at the end of August my general attitude has become depressed (like normal) as if I'm not even taking the stuff anymore.

Any experts in this area that could field this one?

I assume like all things your body 'gets used to it'.

For example while in AZ I took massive amounts of advil and nodoze to deal with my depression, but I found over time advil had less and less of an effect on me. Ditto on the nodoze.

Mama Smurf

My penis is still intact.
I never understood why none of the tablets I took seemed to help my depression...until I realised I wasn't depressed, but justifiably unhappy.

So I've been no use at all. I'll get my coat.

This news displeases me greatly. It wasn't really gradual though, it seemed like it just shut off just like that. I'm wondering if my sleeping habits have a lot to do with it because I'm not getting as much sleep as I used to. Would that really have that dramatic effect though?

What mama said has some truth to it. Sometimes its not chemical. You seem pretty self aware, which makes it harder for you to let go of depression.

I know how that is since im that way myself. There are situations where the key to stomping out depression is simply finding what makes you happy.

We aren't just chemical processes.

Bah!

I really don't know what could be bumming me out. I mean, I kinda doubt I did very good on a math test today but really, that's just one day. I've been somewhat bummed for about 6 weeks now with no real good reason.

if you can find a good reason its probably chemical then. Just masturbate till you fall down. OOOOr try getting outside, go hiking or something. Visit with friends, whatever works.

So...is being depressed the norm around here? Seems so.

How do you know that you're suffering depression? They have screening for that here all the time but I don't think I'm depressed, although nothing at all ever excites me.

The marginal benefit has deminished. There's no benefit left now, only a marginal cost. You didn't pay close attention to your graphs.

i took SJW for about two months. i had to stop because it made me really not give a fuck. i literally had to bite my tongue to stop myself from telling a few people to fuck off. Checking the bottle of the Nature's Way brand again, it says "For maximum benefit, use for at least 2 months". Given some recent events, i've started taking it again. i'm about two weeks in and i'm starting to feel the effects. :D

i'd recommend you speak to a holistic doctor, or at least get some opinions from knowledgeable staff at a health food store. Keep in mind the latter is no substitute for talking to a doctor, holistic or otherwise. Also, talk to your doctor about using it. Traditional doctors usually don't know anything about holistic remedies, or will try to steer you away from them, but SJW is pretty popular in treating depression and other things, so they might have some experience with patients using it.

All this time, I thought that stuff got rid of warts...or something.
