Account wide, but as long as you have at least one character slot filled. So if you have 2 characters, both are in the same guild because of the master account. If you delete 1 of 2, the account is still in the guild, but if you delete both, then you are out.

How does this work if you have characters belonging to different groups--DC, EP and AD?

Just equipped my first shield, go in to block an attack, then start pressing r2, you just keep bashing them in the face with the shield stunning them, quite glorious
