I really like Simon Stålenhag's work, he's the artist whose book this is adapted from. I've got a bunch of the books for the Tales From The Loop/Things From The Flood RPG that was also adapted from his work but I've yet to play it. I also really enjoyed the Tales From The Loop tv show.

Looks like this film is quite tonally different and a lot more action-packed than the show, which had this melancholy vibe that really stuck with me. But I guess that's to be expected from a $320 million film.

I love that show wished there was a second season. It was very unique and each episode was fantastic. The Robots in this movie look unique and memorable too

Glad you enjoyed it too! Like you say it's got quite a unique feel to it, which perhaps didn't help it find a bigger audience, but really clicked for me. I liked how the anthology aspect allowed it to explore different ideas but the ties between the episodes helped make it feel like it was all taking part in the same community. It's got a fantastic soundtrack too. It's a pity we didn't get another season but I'm glad we got what we did.

When you see the original art you can see things the show took inspiration from

I love the mix of the fantastical and the mundane.

To anyone reading this, if you're looking for a new sci-fi show to watch give it a try.

I was thinking this reminds me of something. went and looked around a little and realized it reminds me of that game Generation Zero. but yeah, I'm down to give this movie a try. looks kinda interesting.

The trailer looks too much like a comedy. Stålenhag's books have a very strong undercurrent of melancholia and should be closer to horror than comedy.

Is this a kid's movie? Not even joking, this legit looks like a kids movie.

Make a Gray Man sequel, you fucks!

looks decent enough, glad to see MBB doing something that isn't horse shite (although we haven't see this yet so I'm jumping the gun).

I do worry about it being very netflixified... which usually means shit. The rest of the talent is great though GCE, Pratt, Tucci, all good stuff

I'm starting to think that MBB was hatched from some netflix studio lab, has she been in ANYTHING not on netflix?

My kid is gonna go APESHIT over this, that's for sure.

I love that show :lollipop_smiling_face_eyes:
Millie Bobby Brown!!!!

That's a no question pass for me
Felt the same once I saw her name attached. I've been really impressed by her lack of range.

The back story for this is that Walt Disney's animatronics because so advanced that they became sentient and revolted. That should've been the movie.

Apparently the budget was $200 million

I'm willing to bet this will still generate over a 100+ million views on Netflix.

I just don't see the appeal, but then again, i got bored of strange things after season 2 and i thought her character was slightly annoying so...
I don't really see it as an appeal thing. Her acting while playing as Eleven was good enough to her enough attention for better gigs. I think she should take that acting skill and branch out while improving her craft, not waste it on assembly line Netflix movies filled with CGI.

Or maybe I'm wrong idk...maybe she just wants to be the female Dwayne Johnson of Netflix movies.

I wasn't particularly impressed with any of the Russo stuff outside of marvel , and none of it has been cheap or short on talent. Either they are missing some writer mojo to sharpen the script or they are just coasting in that department while burning netflix cash on stunts and CG. If the next avengers film hits like a Netflix movie....oooph.

Going to be great.

320 million dollars, good lord.

Should've made a Gray Man sequel.

I need to get into film business. Start a production company or something

Getting paid to churn out this garbage has to be one of the easiest scams ever

I thought Extraction was good 🤷‍♂️

I think the Russos have a weakness when it comes to sci-fi. If they stick to military/espionage they do better work.

They didn't actually direct that one though, just produced. The stunt man turned director, Sam Hargrave, actually directed it.

The only films they actually directed since Endgame was Grey Man and Cherry, the Tom Holland one. Then this Chris Pratt electric robot one.
