Arent they just making tyres to the spec that the FIA specify?

In terms of performance yes, they were asked to make tyres that degrade and that will make more exciting racing.

So far this weekend we've had 2 tyre delaminations on two different cars, one costing the driver a new gearbox and the other costing places in the race and an extra set.

Then Massa got his blowout too.

Though that could be something else, no idea yet.

EDIT: Hamilton said before the race he'd like to finish closer to Rosberg. Little did he know Rosberg was going to aim for the back of the grid.

Alonso looks to be in the points, not terrible considering what happened in the first few laps.

Also, thanks Pirelli for giving the shit tires to the team with the biggest and most vocal fan base :D Enjoy the giant shit storm heading your way.

Worst idea by the FIA, fair enough using drs to make overtaking easier but, this tyre management bs better be tweaked for next year.

Alonso cockpit camera shows a "funny" Alonso dancing around the DRS button and having to remind himself not to press it, wouldn't be surprised if he activates it again, poor ALO.

I gets tweaked every year, people have complained about it every year, and we have had some great racing since they started making the tyres.

The problem for Pirelli is that they are more than capable of making a tyre that will do 100 laps at 100%,, but that's not what they were asked for. All they are getting now is negative PR.

Grosjean and webber could take di resta and kimi since those guys will be on such old tires on the end of the race.

painful to watch ALO now, I feel for this guy, losing to RBR by the smallest of margins with an average car and now with a competent car bad luck is all over him.
