"The Freeman Returns" with The Official Orange Box Thread

I was watching the Pelican Brief movie adaptation today, and I realized that the actor playing the President of The United States is Robert Culp, the man who voices Doctor Breen.

Shit like this just can't be unseen.

Well, since this got bumped I might as well mention this...

Valve has announced a massive TF2 update coming to the 360 version. It's going to include all of the stuff that has been released for the PC version. Not ETA yet, but when it comes out we should definitely get some GAF games going. I've bumped the TF2 360 thread for discussion in the Online Forum.

Just when I think I'm really starting to get into Half-life 2, it throws me a shitty extended vehicle section to play through. :P

Just got the dune buggy thing with the tau cannon, after this is it all on foot or do I have to ride a helicopter or something too at some point?

BTW, the vehicle sections are the best!

I love the isolation between battles, the creepy houses, the sudden attack by the helicopter with the cars on their sides...

Fuck, I love it.

finally played through HL2, Ep 1 and 2, previously I had made it through HL2 up until the final hour of the game...twice and my pc crashed both times

HL2 - amazing
Ep 1 - good
Ep 2 - great....other then that last battle

hated every vehicle section, but I'm playing on 360, don't remember hating them in HL2 when I played it on pc years ago

Oh fuck this thread title.

Also the vehicle sections are that bad. If you get tired of driving stop and go into the buildings you see along the way. Some provide great little set pieces.

Came in here to post this exact sentiment. Half Life always had a desolate tone. Exploring the abandoned coast line was pure ambiance.

What?! Half-life 3 update? *checks thread* RAGE

Also, I don't really like the vehicle sections, whether with antlions or slideyboat.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Man, I finally got around to beating this for the first time a month ago (the Half Life 2 games and portal). It just amazes me how excellent it is today - i wonder how I would have felt if I played Half Life 2 back when it came out 7 years ago!

Since this is bumped I tried to find The Orange Box for PS3 around the time Portal 2 came out, and I had no idea it was so hard to find, at least at a good price. I couldn't find it at any game store in my area, and Amazon is selling it for $55. Can't see myself paying that for an almost 5 year old semi crappy port with no trophy support.

No trophy support is a bummer :[ But, having played it only recently, I was surprised by how smooth the game was. I was expecting framerate problems and slowdowns but I didn't find such problems surprisingly. Not even in Episode Two.

Wasn't high on Half-Life 2 at first but it just kept getting better and better. Fantastic game.

The seemingly neverending battle with the antlions in the tunnel in Episode 2 was extremely fun.

Go Vortigaunts! Go!
