I was going to vote Black Myth: Wukong but then I said screw it and vote for that "cutesy platformer that does nothing new."

I want Shadow of the Erdtree to win just so I can complain that a PS4 game gets GOTY 4 years into this generation. Fucking embarrassing.
 
I own all of them except astro bot but only played like 10 hours of Wukong, real life is slapping me hard this year.

Literally just gonna lay back and watch folks predict.
 
In a plot twist, Geoff finds out that Kojima adores Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island and names it the winner. When questioned by the audience, Geoff rips off his shirt and screams, "It's my God damned award show!" into the microphone.
 
I cannot wait for DLC to be GOTY. It is going to be so fucking delicious. Everything I've ever said about the enshittification of video games encapsulated in one moronic, meaningless award.

The ACTUAL GOTY is UFO50.

I voted Final Fantasy just because I figure it's the crowd favorite - or the traditional favorite, anyhow - but I'm shooting in the dark.
 
Overall it'd just be nice to see something new win rather than a DLC or a Remake..

I'm hoping for Astro Bot or Balatro.

I don't think any title in contention will run away with the votes so anything could win. Balatro would be cool because it's a great little game that would lead to really big meltdowns.

Expecting some banger announcements to get my love for the medium back up
 
I expect Erdtree to win. But honestly, I'm more excited for the 2 holy shit moments....
...and fully expecting to be whelmed.
 
This one is decided by the panel right? If so, I say it's either gonna be Shadow of the Erdtree or Astro Bot. I personally don't think DLC should be in the running, no matter how good it is, but that's still what I think will win.

Shame though, I think there were an absolute assload of fantastic games that aren't AAA-tier released this year that I would put ahead of most of these choices.
 
I want Rebirth to win, but don't think it will.
I think Metaphor should win it, but I also don't think it will
I think Elden Ring will win, but don't think it should.
Black Myth is is outclassed by the other nominees
Astro I have played, but don't think it's better then the first 3.
Never played Baltaro, so if it wins, it's whatever.
 
A remake, an indie card game, DLC, and a platformer that's basically a PS advertisement...... I cannot take these GOTY contenders seriously. Stalker 2, Hellblade 2 and Rise of the Ronin deserve to be on there.
Voting for Metaphor.
 
Changing the criteria to allow DLC to be counted is a tell - Shadow of the Erdtree will get it (even though it doesn't deserve it and it should be in a separate Best DLC/Expansion category)

Hellblade 2 is barely a game - it does not deserve to be within 1 AU of game of the year.
 
I'd take black myth: wukong and elden ring dlc off the list and replace them with silent hill 2 and stellar blade personally if i had my way with the game of the year nominations. As it stands right now though i feel like the three games that deserve GOTY the most based off of the nominations are astro bot, final fantasy 7 rebirth, and metaphor: reFantazio. My pick out of those three would be metaphor personally with ff7 rebirth being a close second.

Young people play only crap these days. Me (42) and my ４１ year old friend love Metaphor. I don't really think the combat system is suited for younger people, they hate turn based.

But even if I loved Metaphor, I have to give it to Rebirth, followed by Astro Bot. Actually 3 of tge only 4 games I played this year. The other would be Silent Hill 2 Remake. With 2 children and your limited times, you get only to play the really great games.
